From the linked article: "Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) said he's been informed that President Obama will support his proposed legislation to make public some opinions from the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, which issued some of the Bush Administration's most sweeping claims of executive power."

This made me unduly happy. I love the words "make public".

Also, I'm not sure whether it was Jez or Obama who made me actually give a crap about politics, but I will thank you both.

@stacyinbean: In all honesty and seriousness? She (Palin) doesn't strike me as a happy woman. Ok, "happy" is a little much to ask of any of us all day long, but content. She does not strike me as being at ease, content, any of that. Even taking away the ideology, I wouldn't want to be her for all the tea in the Wasilla Starbucks.

@ellaesther: She was out of sorts since she was in the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984 or whenever that was. I was a little kid and the first thing I noticed about her was how weird she was with her body. For someone who was supposed to be a badass basketball player/athlete, she looked weird. She made wacko faces while playing the flute, while talking. It was really obvious, especially since she was an attractive lady.

In hindsight, I realized, later when she was Mayor, she always looked like someone ill at ease in her own skin. All the affectations (winking, gosh-darnit nonsense) are of someone who isn't truly IN their own body. Which says a lot, to me, moreso than her mangling of facts and the English language.

It's nice that, for once, all of the news in the round-up is good (or at least, in the case of Huckebee's homophobia and Reid's pussiness, expected). Yay for no sexist stimulus, yay for Gene Robinson, yay for reversing Bush executive orders, and a huge yay for nixing the tax credit for new jobs that would be abused by businesses. Damn, am I glad Obama was elected.

Ok, question: Are all transition periods this frenzied? With the press conferences and the fevered speculation and the pictures of the new Prez with bebbehs? And the INSANE levels of security in the nation's capital?

I have only been in the country for two as an adult, and they were W., when my husband reminds me we were all talking about the chads, not the transition, and... W. again. When it wasn't a transition and I was largely going "Fuck you, slim majority of voters! Lalala I can't fucking HEAR you!"

I'm sure the security is a result of 9/11 and the INSANE number of people planning on attending, and the pictures with bebbehs is because this is how we treat this President-elect. But the other stuff? Is it always like this? kthx.

Also, its been well documented that Bill Clinton shot himself in the foot hardcore during his transition time for his first term and honestly there is probably SO MUCH SHIT to clean up this time, they literally have to get the ball running from day one.

It does seem as if senate selection should be more transparent. In the usual course, people actually vote on things like senators. Not sure why Patererson thinks it's ok to refuse to even disclose all the names.
