From the angle of that shot, I initially thought it was Nancy and Michelle and wondered why the current first lady was being so friendly to an earlier one
@shahrazad: Well I like the guy but he's scandal prone. He has a worse zipper problem than clinton and is known for it. I dont think that should matter, but for some reason it does. Plus its his whole Energy Secretary past
I'm sort of mystified to why all of you want to see Hillary Clinton in charge of health care. I'm sure she'd do a great job at it, absolutely, but I find it hard to believe that she is the only person in the senate who would be able to get shit done. It seems pretty clear that we're likely to get quality health care reform whether or not she's in charge of it -- or if the Obama administration pussies out and we don't get it, there's nothing HRC can do about it.
It seems like the reason you guys want her to be in charge of it is so she can get credit for that accomplishment, and I understand that to some degree, but I care more about the actual passage of good universal health care (like the Baucus bill), not who gets credit for it.
On the other hand, she is probably the best possibility for Secretary of State, period.
Oh, you know, these "small" things that Condi did, helping promote "microfinance grants for women in developing countries and her efforts to get rape made a war crime at the UN." You know, small things.
Why are some people so adamant about not having Hillary anywhere near Obama's administration? Why does Spencer assume that they'd be back-biting and betrayal???? HAS SHE NOT SHOWN HER LOYALTY to Obama yet? Did she undercut him during the GE? NO. She has been nothing but loyal to him and his needs. Which is awesome.
But I am disgusted by the knee-jerk reaction in some circles :" NO SHE'S STILL bad." And the passive-aggressive form of "She'd be sooo much better where she is (keep the little woman right where she is please!)" is just fucking annoying.
@SinisterRouge: So are you saying you'd prefer her as Sec. of State? I don't think I really have an opinion either way, I just want her voice to be heard.
Question to Megan or anyone else who knows, if she did Sec. of State for Obama's administration, could she go back to the Senate again afterward?
@SinisterRouge: I really don't get it. And I don't get how they're guaranteed to clash. I mean yes, obviously, they disagree on some issues, but really? Ideologically they aren't that far apart. I had a tough time, in fact, deciding between the two of them in the primary.
I want her to be SoS. She'd be so awesome at it. But if not, she'll also continue to be awesome as the senator from New York.
@stacyinbean: Not necessarily. It's the reasoning behind why she shouldn't be that I have issue with. She'd be an excellent choice for OBAMA. I don't know if it'd be the best choice for her. But it's the knee-jerk "she'd backbite him!" that I hate.
@SinisterRouge: It's a fair point, and I accept the criticism. What I should have said, and what I put on Attackerman after some reflection, was that the larger problem is the coterie of near-pathological backbiters around HRC that think they know what's good for her but end up undermining.
I could certainly be convinced that Sec of State is the right job for Hills, but it does seem a bit strange that women are frequently put in that position, when they have relatively little power in our government. And, Hillary is practically the only person in Congress who really gives a damn about women's rights, particularly reproductive freeom. She's already a lone voice in that respect, and I'd hate for us to have NOONE.

But that's as far as I'll go with the idea that Rice has been a good SOS. Due in no small part to her boss's assitude.
