So I just this minute realized that in the awesome movie "Heathers", Veronica Sawyer's old best friend was Betty Finn. As in Betty and Veronica and Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.
For some reason my orthodontist's office was well-stocked with Archie comics, which was the only good thing about having braces. I always hated Veronica for being so rich and snobby, while I liked Betty for being more down to earth and kind. I would have been very disappointed to read of the impending nuptials while waiting for another torturous appointment.
I would probably be more angry about this turn of events in the Archie Comics world if I weren't so busy trying to figure out a disguise to wear to the comic book store...
I think we all know who Archie should really end up with. Who has been with him patiently through all this Betty/Veronica nonsense, just waiting for him to come to his senses?
@Mafalda para Presidente: Jughead doesn't really mean anything either (does it?) It's his hat that's always confused me. Is it a beanie? Why does it look like a crown? Did people ever wear hats that looked like that or was it a creation of the Archie artist?
Turns out, it was a real hat style, created when working class folks repurposed hand-me-down hats with bits of old scrap. This trend eventually mutated into the crown hat we see Jughead wearing today, holding onto the anachronism as stubbornly as those Japanese guerrillas that refused to accept that the war was over.
The preview for the first issue is available (just google Archie 600 Preview) and there's a panel where Archie chooses to go left at a fork in the road, so fans are speculating that the first three issues will be Archie Marries Veronica (which is confirmed by the preview covers available) and the next three will be an alternate Archie Marries Betty (that's what we're guessing).
True (pathetic) story: When I was little and rued the fact that I was brunette rather than blonde, I used to reassure myself that Veronica was hotter than Betty, and Jaclyn Smith cuter than Shelly Hack in "Charlie's Angels" ...
@tiny_danza: Me too! In fact I've done that a lot when blonde characters have been presented as the more virtuous and beautiful characters on television shows.
Or maybe that's just my inherent evilness coming through because I'm brunette?

Yes but knowing the comic, he will dump Veronica last minute and then ask Betty to elope. I hope Betty looks at Archie and with eyes glistening with tears says "Fuck that. I'm leaving" and goes on to have her own magical life without that jerk.

That said... could they move to Utah, convert, and have a plural marriage? Cheryl could be his third wife.

Also, I strongly feel that Black Canary should be with Batman and not Green Arrow.
