Seriously tempted to make the drive down to PVD tomorrow -- we've got so many Boston Jezzies, but the last meetup was four months ago and my commenter account hadn't been approved yet...
It all depends on whether or not I can find a clean pair of pants that I don't have to hem. I don't want y'all thinking I'm dirty and/or footless.
Friday, April 17th: Real Fruit Tour: Eleven in LOS ANGELES (8:30pm)
Sashay to Eleven and join LOGO and the America's new drag superstar for an evening of fashion-forward events and fun. The winner of LOGO's smash reality show "RuPaul's Drag Race" will headline what promises to be a memorable night of lip-synching and laughter. Special appearance and performances by contestants, ONGINA and TAMMIE BROWN. International Producer/DJ Mark Picchiotti will be spinning beats that promise to knock the wig right off your head.
I'm so excited for this! It's been odd trying to let my roommate and a friend I'm meeting up with later tomorrow know about it though.
"I'm going to meet up with some people from the internet. They're cool ... we talk about feminism and look at pictures of cats. I mean, what?" But yeah, it's going to be fun :) And I've never been to Trinity Brewhouse so that'll be nice. It also gives me an excuse to stop at the Lush store in the Providence Place Mall.
@bananastand: I don't know if you're in NYC or RI, but I've been to NYC meets and they are lots of fun. Not scary. If good conversation and booze are fun for you, definitely go! Bonus, once you go to your first one, you'll never have the weird anxiety of finding people you've never met before.
@hfree: @AtomicBellyButton: @Khrushchev: Yes, I'm NYC based...I attended one meetup for like 30 minutes once but had to go to another party. I feel like it was just starting to get fun when I had to leave.
It's just...I'm on the couch...watching Golden Girls...this is hard.
@hfree: Last time I made a giant pope hat out of manila folders and markers and tape. It had a big panel that said "TSCHEESE!" on one side and a big cut-out of a cheese wedge on the other.
@tscheese: Too bad. That I would notice. Guess I'll just have to cry "Hootie" and hope someone cries "Hoo" (or perhaps "Jezzie" and "Belle" should be the cries. . .must think on this)
Hmm... I'm driving from DC to Boston tomorrow. I wonder... If I took 95, would I hit Providence while there are still Jezebels hanging out? Quite possibly, but my mom doesn't want me to go that way, because 95 is just a little crazy sometimes. So I probably will be skipping RI altogether- Merritt Parkway to 91 to 84 to the Mass Pike?
@preetalina: Seriously, everyone is really nice, even people whom you might expect to be mean, like me. I went to one and got good and drunk and the whole thing was a very pleasant blur of strangers introducing themselves by funny names. I recommend.
@Khrushchev: Everyone is so smart and that kind of intimidates me a bit. If my comments here are any indication, I'll be the one responding to people saying, oh I agree, oh that's so true, and lololol. :)
@preetalina: Honestly, I usually just stand around grinning stupidly because I can't hear people over the pounding music or skirling bagpipes, and I just sort of shift around and drink too much. It's okay.

@preetalina: No, no. It's all an act. Nobody here is actually that smart in real life, because we don't have access to thesauruses. Don't worry.

Con: I actually have to get up and physically transport my weary, sleep-deprived carcass there. This is a very difficult decision.
