So, let me get this straight: The system works, and therefore Sonia Sotomayor is not qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice? Because she did rule against them, but the Supreme Court overturned her decision -- as they have a hundred thousand times in a hundred-thousand other cases. It's not shocking for the Supreme Court to overturn a Lower Court decision.
Needless to say, I have no idea what was gained from Ricci being there. He won his case -- non-factor.
Note to Linda Chavez: Standardized Tests, especially the SATs, have pretty well known racial bias problems. Could this have had an effect on the Judge's test scores? Could this be one of the reasons that racial awareness in college admissions is necessary to combat institutionalized racism?
I want Robert Morgenthau to be my grandpa. I think Amy Klobuchar may be ahead of me in that line. Dude's NINETY. And awesome. Suck on it, Linda Chavez.
@GeorgeFayne: I was just thinking, oh Lindsey Graham. Your little, "Republicans TOTALLY make affirmative action choices picks too (but we call it something different cause we love America!) hear that latinos VOTE GOP IN 2010!" aside was gold.
The "Founding Fathers" didn't come up with "nine justices," though. Actually, there were originally six. I think these would more enjoyable if I took a drink every time "The Founding Fathers" were mischaracterized.
Can't believe Sessions actually implied if the others studied as hard as Ricci, et. al, they would have done better on the exam. Hey, Sessions, I've got a coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond in case you need to buy a new white sheet.
Double-plus OH SNAP to Robert Morganthau for that "remembering where she came from" business. Apparently, all of my stored ire has now been allocated for Linda Chavez.
OMG I want to punch Linda Chavez in the face! She says no one should get a job based on race but wants the committee not to confirm Sotomayor because of the "wise latina" comment and her "identity politics"!!! She repeated over and over for 4 days that she doesn't judge that way and answered all the issues Chavez is talking about *rages suffocates my wits* ARGHHHH!!
@Elizabth_Bennet: You know what made me feel a little better about this? This little tidbit of information from the NYT:Ms. Chavez was forced to withdraw from consideration to become Labor secretary during the administration of former President George W. Bush, after disclosures that she had housed an illegal immigrant and sometimes paid her.
@confusedforahotsecond is a sodemombeech!: Yes, that did manage to assuage the pain somewhat. Bitter much? Also I managed to turn off the live feed and NOT put my fist through the computer screen *takes deep breath*
@Political Party Girl: I like her backbending: Since this Latina lady succeeded, racism is over, except for this lady, who is a racist.
Oh, and bitch, the death penalty (along with the judicial system, whie we're at it) is racist. It's also immoral, for a host of other reasons. Fuck you.
