Also, Crocs used to make the greatest rain boots ever for kids. My kid could jog in those things (as opposed to the usual clunky Wellies.)
I wish I could still find them for my kids AND me, but I think they've been discontinued.
Apparently they now offer a snow boot (pictured), but its on sale, so I guess they are fazing those out as well. :(
I have a pair of Crocs ballet flats in black. I love them. So comfy.
The only comments I've ever gotten on them have been positive compliments followed by surprise that they are Crocs.
So there! :)
@fluxus flucker: They don't look as cheap in person. Esp. when worn with jeans, which is usually how I do it. Or I wear them out to the pool, swimming hole, or beach -- they are easier to walk in than flip-flops and cuter too.
Um. They DO make flip flops... and high heels... and mary janes.... I actually have the flip flops & mary janes & I love them. Super comfy to walk through Europe with, easy to slip on & off at the airport, light weight for packing, shock absorbing on cobblestones, and the design is such that it looks like a "real" shoe.
Am I the only person who knows about this? Surely not.
I hope Crocs doesn't go out of business! (However, they are perfectly free to dump the hideous holey creations they were originally known for.)
@Israfel_angel: I have about 7 pairs of crocs. Mary janes, little canvas loafers, black slingbacks, leopard print sling backs, flip flops, black velvety wedge high heels, and adorable plaid print ballet flats. I fucking love them.
Hey, those fuzzy Crocs (pictured) are possibly the comfiest shoe I've ever had. I am a heel devotee, but when I'm at home, or walking the dog, I wear the fuzzy crocs. I also have a pair of orangeCroc sling-back ballet slippers that serve as the perfect beach sandal/summer rain shoe. Don't knoc the Crocs - sure some are unsightly, but some are awesome!
@i dream of gene shalit: I used to walk my dog in Crocs, but apparently that material is the MOST DELICIOUS DOG FOOD IN THE WORLD because as soon as I put them on, he latches onto my feet like a giant fuzzy leaf cutter ant. It's really hard to walk when you have a labrador with his mouth wrapped around the top of your foot.
@logruszed: NO. Mario Batali wears crocs, so they must be destroyed and the ground beneath them sown with salt so nothing shall grow for a thousand years.
I've always thought they needed to start a baby product line. I've heard that their gardening kneeler is a perfect kneeler to use when giving your kid a bath. Expand it--make a big old crock changing mat, bath toy caddy, changing table caddy, etc. The bright colors would be huge with people who are sick of pastel pink and blue and the lack of odors absorbed would be a big seller.
@EdnasEdibles: Actually, a baby bather (one of those mats you stick the baby one when washing so they are supported and don't slip around) in the Croc material would be awesome I would think.
Crocs actually does make a variety of shoe shapes, including some maryjane flats that I have considered buying. The flip flops are hella comfortable too. The original Crocs are not my thing, but they do have some more traditional looking ones that aren't half bad, especially for summer wear.
I love their non-clog shoes. I'm thinking of buying a few pairs. They're great if you have to spend a long time standing up every day (so if you're a nurse, chef, or customer service wage slave like I was!) and since I'm thinking of going into pharmacy medicine I'm going to be needing a few pairs of really comfortable, ugly work shoes.
@Flackette Goes Retro: I absolutely love my croc flipflops. I live in a place with lots of hills and very bad roads. My guy had crocs that he wore everyday and they outlasted several pairs of my shoes that I rotated through. Went and brought a pair and soooo comfortable.
I hope crocs keep and going because I would like to keep buying their sandals and flipflops.
@Flackette Goes Retro: Yes, I was reading it going "They already DO all this stuff but are in the toilet anyway." (They sell hole-less crocs too, Nurses and other people buy them for work (they aren't allowed open shoes).
They also sell wellie boots (galoshes).
The only ones I own are the slimline purple maryjanes pictured above here.
