@ceejeemcbeegee is not here: Heh. You know one of his dunderhead buds is gonna nickname him "da Beeb" at some point, and for a minute he's gonna walk around thinking it's cool.
@TheFormerJuneBronson: I think it's OK, it's common enough that people won't think you're taking it from Brady. Whereas my preferred girl name is Violet which everyone will think I like because of Jen Garner. But it's not! I liked it before they used it!
@Maritsa: We named our daughter Honor two years ago. I thought it was lovely, and was kind of inspired by Honor Blackman (the first time I heard of the name), as well as the fact that it wasn't a common virtue-based name, like Hope or Grace.
Imagine my horror when Jessica Alba used it just a few months later.
I always believed Nicole Kidman’s greatest acting role was appearing in public as the devoted wife of Tom Cruise. Mind you, I though her fawning over him was excessive at times as their bitter divorce later proved.
I really do not like Britney's comeback. I was never a fan of Ms. Spears, but the break down felt real and like a right response to the whole
"Look how Sexy she is! She is super special relatable and A V I R G I N" hype around her prior career. Now what she is doing is like sticking her back in the pre-breakdown mode with no inner thought to what caused this to become destructive. I wish she could live her life in something like piece and quiet and that what ever she is is not constantly being sold.
PR-wise, Tom Cruise hasn't fared all that well this decade, what with all the couch-jumping and the bad Scientology press, but his career hasn't exactly tanked yet. Of the nine major movies he's starred in since 2000, only one (Lions For Lambs) made less than $100 million domestically. Even Valkyrie and The Last Samurai made money at the box office.
I can't believe the magazines still make their money off the same people. Well, I can believe it... it's not like they're that creative. But it's mind-numbing.
This post makes me want to reflect on where I've been in the past 10 years...certainly not as scandalous as those outlined above, but also not nearly as shame-provoking...
@Scarlet A: The odd thing to me is that I feel like my life has changed way more than any of these people's in the last ten years. I'm reading the before and after on these photos and thinking "that's it?"
There was a line in Fringe that I think is one of the best lines ever, which went something like "Imagine yourself 20 years ago imagining yourself now. Would you ever in a million years think you'd be standing here?" I had never thought about that before, but my answer is an emphatic "no!" These people, though... I mean maybe they're a little rounder, they make a little less money, they have different partners, but more or less their lives are exactly the same as they were 10 or even 20 years ago. It seems like the life of most celebrities is the most boring and predictable thing ever.
@momo: Seriously. Especially for the Tom/Katie and Brangelina/Jennifer storylines. Practically nothing has happened since each group's drama began, unless you count children huge news. At least Britney and Lindsay actually have had real, new developments. I have no idea why the others are still having the same damn drama printed. Tabloids aren't even trying anymore.
God, what does it mean that I want them to try harder? Shudder.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think in more recent pictures I've seen of Nicole she seems much happier than she has in a while. I think her leaving LA and marrying a fellow Aussie and living a more low-key life in Nashville where all the stars live in the same area and people are used to seeing them out and about has been really good for her. It's almost like she's comfortable now being who she is.
How come when BritBrit's dad intervenes she gets her life back with a radio-silent "conservatorship" and when Lindsay's dad does the same it's a tabloid frenzy of parental betrayal?
@pestified wants-a-Bush-tribunal: Lindsay's dad doesn't have a conservatorship. And Lindsay's dad also leaks her phone calls to the press and has essentially made a career out of publicly humiliating her.
@hortense: I know, it was meant as a smackdown to Father Lohan.
It just doesn't seem possible for him to continue harming her, unchecked, as he does. Where's the rest of the family?

Just cuz the dude's intensely creepy doesn't mean his film career's over.
