    Okay, I love Snooki. I tried to avoid this show, kinda hate everything MTV's put out lately (save "Teen Moms") but the scenes wit her mom, and her inherent sweetness under all the guidette warpaint comes shining through. She's like a lil mini Christina Aguilera, no? Sassy!

    Also she's a quote machine:
    "Oh my gawwd, Baby Jesus".
    "It wasn't sexual, it's house music" = awesome.

    @SomeAuthorGirl: I totally agree.

    When people from the hills or the whatever (I don't watch any of these shows but I think it's the lauren conrad, spender pratt, audrina, etc--they're all from the same show I think?) are in interviews they aren't nearly as hilarious. In a good natured way. It's nice.

    @Gonkette: That comment also rubbed me the wrong way. I don't understand the correlation between abuse and Latina women, but what bothered me even more was Lopez's suggestion that 'being able to take a punch' was a rite of passage to some sort of elevated womanhood.

    It's just all kinds of wrong.

    Says she thought the girls were possessed by demons but believed they would return to life after the demons were dead. Also, says they were dead in the house for 7 months. The story is bizarre, it's like she tried to conduct a half assed exorcism.

    Snooki reminds me of Anna Nicole Smith, a sad girl doing all she can to whore attention and people find her amusing. But, ultimately, it is amusement at her own expense.

    *mind you, there is no way in hell i'm watching this piece of crap show in its entirety (thanks Tracie) and so i'm basing my commentary only on what I've seen in clips.

    One glimmer of hope around the fucked up cloud of Snooki getting punched is that it was really nice to see all those dudes flying to her defense. Nobody laughing, nobody thinking it was funny or acceptable or "Dumb bitch, serves her right." Nothing like that. You actually hear at least one of them say, "Are you seriously going to hit a girl like that?!" just as shocked and appalled as the rest of us. In a dark, misogynistic world, you find chivalry in the weirdest places. I'm really beginning to warm up to the Jersey guys.

    Hmmm. I was unaware that they changed the definition of the word prodigy.

    Also, that's awful. Ten year old kids raping an eight year old?That's two sociopaths that should be kept in check. I know people have a great capacity to change but that situation there should be enough to have them locked away forever. Or this would be a great opportunity to see what the mind of a rapist is like. Nature vs. nurture. Cultural or individual.

    What they did was horrible, but they were children themselves. They deserve the chance to become somebody.

    @kittiquin: Yes and that three year old they kidnapped and murdered deserved the chance to have a life. They deserved more than EIGHT years in jail. People get more than that for drug charges.

    They did the minimum for a horrific crime for which one of them reportedly felt no remorse. The penal system has many objectives, one of which is rehabilitation and one of which is penal - they weren't punished enough.

    @Maritsa: they spent almost half of their lives in prison - chances are, when they got out, they could barely function in the real world. They missed the most important years of social development. More time would have made it worse.

    how well do you remember being 10-18? Didn't it seem like an awfully long time, at the time? I think 8 years for a 40 year old and 8 years for a ten year old are different matters.
