Awww....good thing I'm home from work today, because I'm totally tearing up reading this. I had to go grab my kitty out of her bed and snuggle her...which got her to purr like a motorboat and now I feel a little better :)

Ohh, poor kitty. I have my own tuxedo kitty now, with socks pulled up higher in the back than front, as my brother put it. She's' a sweet precious girl and I hope Socks goes knowing he was loved. That counts for a lot.

I can't even think about my cats going.

oh man, my 15-year old kitty is not well at all and i'm trying to decide whether to take him in today or be selfish and wait a day or two. i'm crying m eyes out as it is, and now this. i've already sent my mother, who passed away last year, a thought-telegram to come and carry him over to the other side and love him until i can get there. maybe boo and socks can have play dates together.

@Stabby Hussein McStabberson: Oh gosh I'm so so sorry. Sending you hugs and good thoughts. And I like to think of all the dogs I had growing up frolicking up in heaven with my grandmother. Plus Reggie, my orange tabby who died three months after I brought him home from the shelter.

@lalaland13: aww thanks for the sympathies. yes, i expect to see a herd of kitties and pups and hamsters and bunnies ready to greet me when i cross over.

as a further note that god has decided that today is meant to be a very bad day, my cell phone just landed in a glass of diet coke and is now also frolicking in heaven with all my other dead cell phones and relatives and pups and kitties, etc... sigh.

My Eleanor is between 17 and 19.

She is my girls, and I want her to live forever.

The vet says given the way she fought against him at her last visit -- it look him and a vet tech to hold her down -- she's got a lot of spunk left in her.

Aw, poor Socks. In a weird though right now I'm feeling better because I thought I remember hearing that after the Clintons gave Socks to Betty Currie and she moved from DC, he ran away and was never found.

So I'm happy at least that even if his time is near, he didn't spend the last 8 years wandering around homeless or worse.

why did the Clintons give up Socks? are they one of those "we moved and our new landlord doesn't let us have a pet so we really have no choice and we have to give him up" pet owners? i hate those people.

@deenaweena: Socks and Buddy didn't get along and because Chelsea was gone and as you say LoveNoelG he had become Betty Curry's cat, they let him go home with her.

I once actually saw something about this on some TV show where they visited Socks at Betty Curry's and I'll tell you, she has such a pretty home that I wish I could go live with her. I remember this really gorgeous upstairs or second level room that was an office or something and had big windows with a through the canopy view of trees. (I hope this is a real memory and not something I made up!)
