I saw the Piv in Speed the Plow a few weeks back. He essentially played Ari Gold. It wasn't a bad performance, but probably wasn't what Mamet intended. I would love to see William H. Macy in the role, though.
@brendastarlet is on it: You people are so lucky that you get to see David Mamet plays instead of having to make due with The Unit and Redbelt until he makes another seedy grifter film.
I'm so sick of celebrities weighing in on the pharmaceutical debate. Let people think for themselves and decide whether medical intervention for their mental illness is necessary or not! Some people need anti-depressants, some do not; quit being a public jackass and making stupid assertions about others' mental health.
@evil_green_eyes: No, you're right... it is a TV thing. However, stranded in the barren land of North Dakota that's the only way we learn social norms. We also prosecute people just like on People's Court... evidence on flat screens and booing audience included.
@brendastarlet is on it: yes, though even Nic Kidman might be better than Mira Sorvino who did the tv version a few years ago. But then again i may be more anti-Mira than most of the population...
@brendastarlet is on it: She is about as annoying as Mia Farrow, the original Daisy -- totally spoilt the movie for me (and the book -- I can never read it without hearing that dreadful voice of hers).
Having said that, I did't hate Nicole in Australia. maybe because she was able to FROWN on occassion -- hello Frown! We haven't seen you for years!
Humor aside - it's a disgusting story, and that is a lot of money, so there must have been some compelling evidence. That cop's probably going to have to move - I can't imagine NYC Bowie fans being to tolerant of that kind of douchebaggery. Even more, I can't believe that this is the first I've heard about it...
@raysanni: I'm glad they're not dating anymore, because I didn't like Jim with Karen and I have trouble separating television stars from their characters...
@rosasparks: If he's not gay, I assume it bugs, especially if her non-modelesque appearance & age is cited as proof that he must be. If he is, I'm not sure beards actually want to be outed as beards, which defeats their purpose, and probably leads to many uncomfortable scenarios like all conversation stopping once you walk into a room.
@Your Screenplay Sucks: OMFG - Loves it! I really do want to see her interview Charles Barkley now.
I hope she read enough in that Danish book how to let the capacitors discharge. Opening a TV or old CRT monitor like that and fiddling about can kill you.
@2pint: Thank you for that Public Service Announcement. After seeing that video I was ready to go to town on my old TV set and that would've been a fairly embarrassing and nerdy way to die.
@rosasparks: Just the possibility that she has hit that makes her a role model in my book.
Usually they have guards in place so you can't get zapped, but they store ~1200 W @ ~10kV and ~3A for a short time - continuous Watts and Amperage kill you, high Volts just zap you and make you fall off a ladder - basically.
Hair dryers, toasters, heaters, these are only dangerous when plugged in (and mostly around water). Things like desktop computer power supplies, laser printers, copiers, old TVs, CRTs, etc - can store large amounts of power - don't wanna disassemble them unless you know what yer doing.
Even relatively low Amps and Watts can stop your heart by interrupting it's sinusoidal rhythm.
Tasers work by cycling very high voltage, but low current, and mostly only affect muscles/nerves near the surface.

Kim Kardashian = aware she has a sex tape and perhaps a reality TV show but not sure how that made her famous
Selena Gomez = This is clearly not the dead singer J.Lo played in a movie so I'm befuddled
