    @ceejeemcbeegee: Is it that it just doesn't *show* on some people of color, or that they don't blush at all? i.e. do the people who don't appear to blush still get that feeling of a hot rush of blood to the cheeks when embarrassed or nervous (this is what happens to me, but I'm quite fair-skinned so it shows instantly).

    The blood type thing has been kind of a Japanese superstition for yeeeeears. (Notice that I am a huge dork and I only know this because I consume way too much anime and manga and I noticed a long time ago that if you're reading a character's bio, you might find that their blood type is listed along with their Zodiac sign to give you an idea of their personality. Of course, in that context it isn't taken particularly seriously, and it's only given as a mythological thing, with about as much weight as the average person would devote to their Zodiac sign.)

    My grandma just passed away in December three months after my grandfather died. They were married for 59 years and before she died, Grandma told us "it wasn't any fun before him, and it hasn't been any fun since."

    @rocknrollunicorn: That didn't sound right so I checked the original article linked in the post-- it's marked down 97%, not *to* 97% of its original price (which would only be a 3% reduction in price). From about $250 to $8, according to the article.


    Regardless, though, it's sparkling wine and sounds pretty good!

    Interesting article on the freezing of eggs. It has been a pretty intense conversation in my group of friends (we're all approaching or just passed 30). Also the whole paying for it by donating has come up, although I would like to donate for other reasons.


    Has anyone here donated? What was your experience like?

    @desertbloom79: My friend's sister donated. It was physically unpleasant. She had to give herself daily hormone injections that were fairly painful, gained weight, and was very uncomfortable. The harvesting was also apparently painful. She did receive good money (2 or 3 thousand), as she was a highly desirable donor (good student, college grad, athletic, attractive).

    Apparently you can't donate past 29, per the local egg dealers.

    @desertbloom79: I've been shocked reading about the recent surge in egg donating how woman think 2-8,000 dollars is a lot of money. Maybe for the pain and discomfort aspect, but how could you put any price on what is going to be a human life?


    How is this any different from the slave markets of yore? Gosh....8 grand is such chump change.

    @Stephanie Dawes: I think it is different from a slave market because you are giving someone the opportunity to have a child that they desperately want but physically cannot have. It skeeves me out when people start searching for physical characteristics, but giving eggs to an infertile couple (who see the eggs as a future living being, one who is a part of the family and deserves love) seems devoid of all associations with the slave trade.

    @Hazel: I can't imagine an attorney giving his client advice like that. The whole story stinks of bullshit to me. Either Peterson lied to the girlfriend or the girlfriend lied to the reporter. Or, the most likely scenario of all, all parties are lying. None of it makes sense.
