With Less Than 72 Hours To Go, Some Voters Still Haven't Made Up Their Minds |

That just seems harsh and ignorant to me. Our country fought hard to give this right to EVERYONE. So please, don't be judgmental and insulting. How about instead, you list the issues you like or why you're voting for a certain candidate.
I'm definitely undecided. I'm going to be going back and forth between McCain and Obama right up until I select my choice. However, once I've done so, I'll be fully confidant and behind my pick. Right now, though, I'm struggling with all the issues. After a very difficult period in my life, I've recently returned to my family's Catholic faith - BUT! I'm pro-choice. Strongly so due to past experiences. On the other hand, I'm for the death penalty. I'm for incredibly strict immigation control, and I'm against same-sex marriage. ( I also went through ethical and emotional battles with my own views because from birth, my brother had been "married" to his partner. They're now going on 25 years. I love them both very much. ) I'd like for same-sex couples to be able to have many of the same rights and a common law couple does. I grew up in a Southern state where this type of marriage gives the couple the same rights as a legal couple. It seems to me to be a good compromise between the religious and equal right sides of the issue.
Having said all of that, I was raised in a wealthy household that benefited from the conservative Republican values. Growing up, Republican made sense financially and religiously. I can say with honesty that if I had not gone through a series of experiences back then, I would have less mental upheaval about which side to vote for. I'm terrified of the possibilty of overturning Roe v. Wade or having way right wing justices on the Supreme Court. But I don't want abortions to run amock. I would like to see very strict policies come into play. Palin scares the ever loving crap out of me and, as a woman, completely baffles me.
But I adore McCain. I've been gunning for him to run for the presidency for a very long time because of his military and senatorial experience. I'm Southern. War is a way of life with friends and family serving the military in some sort of capacity. I'm pro-war and pro-military. ( Which I believe are two truly different things. ) I don't agree with Obama's views and think McCain would be better able to serve military men and women because he's been there. Not Kerry- or Bush-been there.
I also, just based on personality, like McCain better. He's a grandpa. Down to earth, no bull, cranky, and stubborn. Obama seems snobby, elitist, suave, and untried. That scares me. Biden is just a non-issue.
My indecisiveness is based soley on issues and not on party. I'm exhausted by the research and have yet to find anyone who can explain the issues and the stance each party has without bias. Will I vote on what president will better benefit our country as a whole, or on one that will better benefit just me? I really don't know, but I do know that my choice matters, and I'm blessed to have the right to vote.
Finally, I will stand fully behind whatever man does take the crown because beneath it all, I'm for the American government.

I just want to give each candidate my full attention, and not be influenced by media, friends, family, ect.
I want to hear every last thing there is to hear from the candidates, and then make an educated decision.
I was totally confused by this article and the responses on this thread that people had so much anger towards undecideds. I had no idea I supposed to be embarassed for putting a lot of thought into my vote.

There are more than two parties. There are more than two candidates. We are not all democrats or republicans, but having the nation at large try to forcibly lump you into one or the other is incredibly frustrating. As I am frequently told, a vote for a candidate who is not Obama is a vote for McCain! In reality, it is a vote for the candidate whose views are most in line with my own, and if I vote for Obama simply because i want Not McCain, I am only perpetuating a system that I don't believe in.
So sometimes the indecision is internal rather than external it's not an issue of hm, maybe if I hear some more speeches and have more people come to my door or watch some more commercials. It is an issue of pragmatism vs. ideology, for me at least.
Also, a lot of these undecided voters may not even be undecided. A canvaser came to my door last night, and when I told her I was libertarian her reply was "Oh, so you're undecided?"

Just because I haven't decided, and you have, I should 'stay home and (not) vote'?
BULLSHIT!
(sorry this rage is directed toward many on this thread, not trying to single you out. Some undecided voters are informed and have their reasons, but on this site we're treated like we're idiots. THIS IS WHY I HAVEN'T POSTED ON THE POLITICAL THREADS PRIOR TO NOW. My views may not align w/ yours, but I can and will use my right to use every SECOND available to think long and hard about how I want to vote. This DOES NOT make me racist, or stupid, or any of the other crap I am reading on here. Like I said before, I cannot wait for the election to be over, so that I can come to Jez and feel comfortable posting on topics w/o the fear of being treated like an idiot by people who don't even know me.)

Honestly, this thread makes me wish I were undecided. I have been decided since before this circus even really began (yellow dog Democrat, right here), but idiotic nastiness towards other people's TOTALLY REASONABLE AND LEGAL choices--whatever those choices may be--always drives me towards a contrarian position. I really, truly fail to understand how third-party voting or indecision or, hell, even flipping the goddamn coin makes much of a difference. It doesn't insult those who fought for the right to vote. People fought so that EVERYONE could vote--even those we'd rather stayed home. Even those whose views we find abhorrent. And, yes, even those who have no views whatsoever, and make knee-jerk decisions in the voting booth.
It's a fucking RIGHT. Like the rights to life, liberty, and property. I'm not going to sit here and pass vicious judgment on people who haven't made a choice or whose choices I might personally think are fundamentally stupid, because they're exercising their rights as citizens of this country--and their rights include the right to vote for anyone or no one at all.
If there was a tone of snark or even humor to the nasty comments here, I wouldn't mind so much. But instead, we have people in fairly privileged positions calling out others for exercising their rights as they see fit. Nice.

that is all. ;)

She just said Joe the Plumber twice. And socialism.
HATEHATEHATE.
I can't even think of a proper response to this woman.
Jezzie's get to the polls and spare me my sanity, because if I have to hear four years of this I'm ending it all.

I do not have to make up my mind until I am in that booth. I am leaning toward Obama, but some of his plans do not jive w/ what I am looking for in a prez. HOWEVER, McCain/Palin's views on women's health scare the CRAP out of me. Bottom line: I will choose when I damn well want to, not when folks like you try to intimidate me to either vote like you or stay home.

Some undecides also just don't want to publicize the choice they actually have made, likely for social or employment reasons.

Also, my Grandma has suggested that she will vote for Obama after he proves himself after four years of the Presidency. This could be a whole new strategy for undecideds- why decide THIS election? There are potentially four more years after these four!
Of course, this is coming from someone who voted for Bush twice, but as my Grandma reminds me, Bush did not screw up the country alone, so she saw nothing wrong with voting for him after the first screwed up term. However, if the country fails even more under Obama, it will of course be his fault.
I am so sick of real America.
