    It is too soon for christmas. That said I am terrified of the leprechaun santa and I want it. Also I think maybe Santa is going to steal the baby Jesus and stick him in his red sack and cart him off to the pole and force him to work along with other enslaved elves. Or at least that is what it looks like. I would also like to have those ornaments.

    @themorethemerrier: Not to get all morbid but appreciate those barbies! The thing I miss the most about my grandma was the hat and mitt sets she gave me EVERY christmas, even though I always complained at the time.

    Ha, before I clicked I thought the Scotch bottle was olive oil, and I knew EXACTLY what foodie I would get it for. The sushi is pretty cool, too.

    Also, I went to the main site and I want an Aretha inauguration hat ornament! I mostly collect children's book themed ornaments, but I may have to make an exception.

    When my brother converted and became a penticostle of the Sarah Palin variety, he kept making a big deal about how the letters in Santa's name also spell Satan. He didn't appreciate it when I pointed out that it also spelled Nasta and that it didn't mean he was the subject of a Janet Jackson song. But now that I see these ornaments, it's clear that Santa is not Satan, he was obviously one of the wise men. Unless, of course, he's Herod, and he's about whip an axe out of that beard and slaughter the innocents.

    @cocobanal: mushrooms can grow in the dirt, or they can grow on trees--certainly dead, rotting ones, and perhaps living ones. I went to Wikipedia, but it wasn't as useful as "mushrooms grow on trees" so I didn't read much :)

    I gotta say, I like weird ornaments that have nothing to do with Christmas. My mom has had the same ornaments for years, including some that have been in her family for three generations or more.

    We have a skinny Santa in a yellow jogging suit (for my grandpa, who used to run marathons), I have a little Hermione ornament and several ballerinas, my brother has a little karate kid, and of course we have all our "baby's first Christmas" (including my mom's!), and all the homemade ornaments my brother and I made in elementary school. We have a little collie with wings (representing our old dog), a tiny sailboat like one my dad used to have, and commemorative ornaments from family trips that go back to my mom's childhood. Every year we might buy one or two new ornaments, but we never have plain old glass balls or any of that color-coordinated shit.

    I'm not really religious, but I fucking love Christmas and decorating the tree.

    There is a couple in a house down the street from me who every year put up a life size manger scene on their roof - baby jesus, mary, joe, wise men, farm animals...and a fluorescent green alien. Looks just like the one in picture 3. I should buy that and give it to them for a present.

    @chocopina: Ninja Turtles always mysteriously find their way into our Christmas trees. I believe last year, Chucky (the murderous doll) overtook the angel at the top of the tree.
