Last night at the 85th annual Academy Awards, for the most part, the look on the red carpet was classic Hollywood glamour. Like rare birds during mating season, A-listers tried to outshine each other, and some of the bright plumage and peacockery on display was truly stunning. Alas, there were a few sartorial missteps…

• Jessica Simpson is reportedly in negotiations to judge American Idol and has met with the producers several times. Since Jess obviously won't be filling the role of the cranky Brit, "This is part of a massive overhaul of the show."

• Lady Gaga's stage at Lollapalooza will be, in a word, huge. Perry Farrell told MTV News:

• Last night, Scarlett Johansson won a Tony award for her performance in A View From The Bridge on Broadway. She wasn't the only film star awarded at the ceremony:

• Have mercy. Will Lauren Conrad's L.A. Candy be turned into a film? That would mean a movie based on a book based on reality show based on someone's life. LC says:

• Police released the 911 call made when Michael Jackson stopped breathing. Jackson's personal doctor witnessed the incident and performed CPR before going missing. In addition, officials at a press conference right now report there's no indication of foul play. [TMZ]
