I can't believe there are other people who know the magic of Anne Shirley...I read all 8 of those books over and over...I didn't know there were others!!

@bornkonfused: Don't be silly. Anne girls are everywhere.

I went to Green Gables last summer! And saw the Lake of Shining Waters! And the Haunted Wood! It was awesome.

@bornkonfused: Chronicles and Further Chronicles? Rainbow Valley? Rilla of Ingleside? Which ones did you miss?

(A caveat -- if you haven't read the tales of the Shirley-Blythe clan growing up, you will want an extra Kleenex box.)

There's no telling what it will take to save Rhyme and Reason...

(inspired by Amy Pohler's Leslie Knope filibustering a meeting by reading The Phantom Tollbooth.)

I try to pull a Nancy Drew at least once a month... so far this month was sort of a success, but one more piece of the puzzle needs to be figured out.

When I was really little my family used "rolling down the haystack" as a euphemism for doing something naughty after you have just been told to stop doing that particular thing.

From, of course, the incident in (I think) On the Banks of Plum Creek where Laura and Mary Ingalls ruin Pa's haystack two days in a row.

Two that I currently use in real life:

1)Laura Ingalls style: in a manner deliberately avoiding modern conveniences

Ex: I should have done a load of laundry, but I just washed my underwear in the sink, Laura Ingalls style.

2)kindred: referring to someone or something that is not conventionally cool but is exactly suited to your tastes

Ex: The fact that B___ plays the bagpipes? Totally kindred.

ok I'm on the radio here at school and every time I think the get dressed cute before doing my show, I recall that Babysitter's Club book in which Claudia gets teased for dressing up for the radio. "No one's going to see you! What, are you going to describe your outfit to the listeners?"

"Jennifer-Hecating" - the phase many teenage girls go through (usually after horses, before boys) where they become fascinated by witchcraft and/or pseudo-Wicca & practice casting spells, communing with Isis, & wearing crystals & silver jewelry.

ex. Oh, back when I was 14 & I was Jennifer-Hecating, I'd have slumber parties where we would do candle magic & play Ouija. But I'm over all that silly stuff! Now I only believe in scientific things, like astrology.

"You've Been Blubbered" - to designate someone the punching bag of the entire school. This person should probably move to another city.

@Your Screenplay Sucks: For an advanced cases of Jennifer-Hecating, please see "The Craft".

(Question - didn't Linda/Blubber end up bullying someone else, in a bizarre twist on survival of the fittest? Deenie and Margaret were my good friends, but I was always afraid to read that one.)

@Rooo sez BISH PLZ: Oh yeah - one girl tried to protect Blubber, so the in crowd cast her out and the Artist Formerly Known as Blubber jumped at the chance to make her defender the school punching bag instead.

I suppose "you've been blubbered" could also mean "don't stick your neck out for nobody, they're not worth it/the road to high school hell is paved with good intentions"

I always thought Isabelle the Itch's learning how to box at 11 would turn out to be a survival tactic. I bet she was one of the first girls Reebok every photographed.

    To Superfudge

When there is a new addition to the family that causes jealousy, resulting in the baby being covered with stamps and being offered to strangers for sale.

Ex: My sister had a baby boy and my niece attempted a superfudge.
