My favorite part of the "Shep Smith Goes OFF!" video is the little, devil-may-care "oops." that he tosses off after noticing that he's tossed off the f-bomb.

Fucking hell, people, that was brilliant! And I'm glad he's out there.

(But to all the ladies expressing their lust... I was of the opinion that Shep bats for Neil Patrick Harris's team...?)

I'm recovered now. Enough to be thoroughly sickened by the continuing stream of racist bullshit that keeps becoming exposed about the last two presidential terms.

I'm with Shep. This is my fucking country. Do not torture in my name. I hope the architects of what has been done are tried for war crimes. As long as we're no longer allowing a few powerful and disturbed individuals to strive with all their might to stain the collective national soul, why settle for half measures? Let them walk free? Let them continue to spew their sickness all over cable news and radio? Let them write books and do speaking engagements?

@Macloserboy: I almost said, this IS spinning we are talking about. Hot, cramped room, surrounded by other people grunting and sweating, on a bike that is going nowhere. Probably blasting music. The goal is generally calorie burning. This ain't a pleasant jog in the park, thats for sure.

@Macloserboy: @LaFemme: I think the notion is that there might be something beyond "beach bod" for some -- even if wanting to look decent is part of it. The desire to be healthy, the desire to look good, the desire to work off stress (and I'd be willing to bet that Chelsea Clinton has a fair amount of stress all around her, at all times!), and a few other desires, sometimes these things all dovetail nicely into a spinning class.

Also: "Beach bod" presumes an effort to look good for the enjoyment of others. While I don't doubt that Chelsea Clinton wants to look good, I would imagine that she's less interested in being a pretty thing for others to observe.

And the moment that is not the case, I want off the train! This government is of, by, and for the people -- that means it's mine. That means -- I'm not saying what is torture, and what is not torture, but I'm saying, whatever it is, you don't do it for me! I want off the train when the government starts -- I want off, next stop, now!"

It always made me uncomfortable when people made jokes or snarked about Chelsea's appearance particularly when she was a teenager. I think about how self conscious and vulnerable I was as a teen and I felt awful for her. I mean it seems her folks shielded her from that (Bill asking SNL not to make fun of her) for the most part but I'm sure she must have heard about some of the comments. Chelsea didn't act up in the White House, she went to Stanford and Oxford, we've never heard stories of her getting drunk or crazy and all NY Post cares about how her taking spin classes means she's preparing for bikini season. That's the only reason one takes spin classes? Not that they enjoy the class or it's a great stress reliever or it's a great workout, it's so that they don't look like a whale in a bikini? Fail, NY Post, Fail!

@greengrey: That's what bugs me is that no matter how smart or accomplished a woman is, it still comes down to her appearance. It's like no matter your accomplishments as a woman you should never forget that your utmost priority is to look good/pretty/beautiful. No one ever harps about Dick Cheney, Newt Grinch being ugly but Hilary...ughhh, is why is her hair so short, must she always wear paint suits. It's infuriating!!

@Sookie Stackhouse: I hate to say it, but I'm glad that the Obama girls are really cute for this very reason. They're currently stereotypically very adorable little girls and I really really hope that they don't go through any "awkward" stage like Chelsea did, because people were vicious. I mean, teenagers who never asked to be famous should be left alone by decent people, but sadly they aren't.

If Dick Cheney really is so adamant that the American people be able to see the intel so we can see for ourselves that he did right by us, then fine. I want to see everything else too. Every email, memo, letter, text message, Tweet, etc he every produced, touched or signed off on during his 8 years in office. If I supposedly have the "right" to know that the torture was justifiable, then I also have the "right" to know what the hell else he was up to.
