Snark all you want, but the semester I lost my dog I had a nervous breakdown and failed all my classes. I don't care what anyone says, when you have a fucked up family (which it seems j.simp does) your dog is sometimes the only person who seems to unconditionally love you.
I have to admit, despite my dislike for her, I feel really bad for Jessica Simpson. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to have your dog carried off by a coyote, or other animal. As the owner of a 2.9 lb chihuahua, I'm scared to let her outside alone, for fear of hawks, or even squirrels. (She's bite-sized!) I would freak if anything happened to her. She's my baby! So, I understand how Jessica is in a bad place and grieving.
After all, they're not just pets, they're members of the family.
@Urban Sombrero: I was telling my husband last night about the sad loss of Jessica Simpson's pup and we both agreed that it would be heartbreaking and devastating to lose one of our dogs, let alone by having them snatched by a carnivore in front of our eyes. We have a pomeranian and a chihuahua and neither of them could really put up a fight.
Anyone making fun of her plight is just mean. Pets are so much a part of a family and their loss, especially in this way, is cause for grief.
@JBae (née JSouth): I know. I feel so bad for her. I haven't ever lost a pet but I worry about the day I will. My oldest cat is 15 and she is getting older. Pets are important, you spend hours of the day with them and they are just part of your life and family.
Being engaged for a while is awesome. You get to have rad parties and make googly eyes at your fiance and no one cares because you're ENGAGED and you can change your Facebook status and register for things at Sur La Table with one of those sweet guns. It's a shame you won't get to enjoy all of these things.
From the LA Times: "Khloe and Lamar want to get married before Lamar has to go away for training, and the season starts up [this fall]," a source told Us Weekly. "They are hoping to pull together a wedding within the next few weeks so they can get married and have a honeymoon.
Surely there are better reasons to get married after a week of being engaged than wanting to go on a honeymoon? This sounds like a recipe for divorce.
I was at the Coldplay/Kay Z concert at wembley and it wasn't 'weird' at all. If anything it was expected that Jay z would come out when they did 'lost' as theyd collaborated on that song!
Not sure why anyone would describe two people who are known to be good friends hugging as weird?
My sister's dog was carried off by a coyote or fox or something a month ago and she still cries everytime someone brings her up :( I want to make Jessica Simpson a card or something, she has every right to be sad.
@carinamarie: One of my friends mentioned a week ago that Jason Stackhouse reminded her of a young Dubya in both looks and temperment, momentarily sidelining my need to fuck him.
I am happy to say that sad period is over. Thanks!
@BetteD: Apparently he's sort of the basis for the character. I saw an interview with Ryan and he didn't really deny it either...he basically said you could read Jason any way you wanted to and A LOT of people see Dubya.
I'm more of a Sam "Puppy Dog Eyes" Merlotte fan, myself.
Well, I'd like to congratulate Khloe K. Not for the wedding, or for probably being the first of the sisters to divorce (Kim already grabbed that honor) but for wresting the spotlight away from the pregnant sister. You are winning the sibling rivalry war, if it is defined by who gets the cover of People next week.
@SpicyTamale is a GA peach: From Wikipedia--In 2000, Kardashian married music producer Damon Thomas; their relationship ended in divorce in 2004. Yeah, I waste brains cells on this shit.
I feel for Jessica too. I love my maltapoo pretty close to as much, if not more, than any other living being in this world. The personal devastation for me if he were to be snatched away and killed could leave me staring at walls for months. I have been through a lot of violent trauma in my life and he is a constant, reliable source of comfort and affection. I miss him during my workday. If it's wrong then I don't want to be right.
I feel sorry for Jess. I remember when I was kid and my beloved Oscar (terrier mutt) was given away while my parents lied and told me it ran away. I went through so many happy times with that dog. Its not exactly the same but it sucks losing a pet.
@SevenNationArmy has truth tourettes: That's absolutely awful. I'm sorry. I agree, it sucks losing a pet, however is happens. I hope you're in a situation now where you can have a puppy. I don't know what I'd do without my cat. :(
@SevenNationArmy has truth tourettes: Yeah, it's horrible. My first pet died on August 1, and my other has also developed terminal cancer. His tumor is growing slowly, so we're hoping he lasts until Christmas and my brother can say goodbye to him. It's painful to have to give up a friend of 14 years.
Jesus H. Christ, Jessica Simpson has the worst friends ever. I live in Southern California, and I am thisclose to tracking her down, giving her a big hug, insisting that her body is lovely at whatever size she wants it, and telling her that we can go look at new puppies, but only when she's good and ready.
With friends like hers, no wonder she was close to her dog. Good lord.
You know what? I am really, really not enjoying people making fun of Jessica Simpson losing her dog, especially in such a horrible manner. I've had to mute my tv a few times just so not to hear people make light of the event.
At my mom's house (where my sister's dog lives) the whole coyote taking off with her is a distinct possibility & it happened to my mom's neighbor.
I would die if anything happened to my dog. Some people really do love their pets like children - they love you unconditionally. This hurts my heart big time for her, give this girl a freaking break!
And to add insult to injury - they plan on body snarking on her after this? Yes, let's capitalize on the pain, anguish & inevitable emotional eating?
Fuck you & the horse you rode in on.
@mikaelamac: I just lost my pet and I was an emotional wreck for awhile. I can't look at pictures of guinea pigs yet, because they make me miss her too much. I don't care who laughed at me when she died - I tried to keep it under control at the vet's (and did a fairly good job), but I broke the fuck down when I got outside and just sat in my car and sobbed. This poor woman has lost someone she loved a lot. She has every right in the world to be sad, especially if she fears that her friend was hurt. Jessica Simpson, I am sorry for your loss. It hurts to lose anyone we care about, big or small.
@boxspelunker: Agreed. Some people are just cruel...even if you're not a fan of Jessica's, why make light of the situation that is obviously traumatizing for her? I would die if something happened to one of my dogbabies, and the people who are making fun of Jessica Simpson for something horrible that happened to her are just wastes of life, seriously.
@boxspelunker: I'm so sorry for your loss. I've never lost a pet before because I never had them growing up. I just got my first cat a year ago...I don't know what I'd do if she was taken away from me. :(
@dietgrrl: I lost a cat and I had to wait 10 years before I had the nerve to get another. and I wouldn't have if a friend hadn't made me. Now I love him more than anything and I would be done if he were to be taken.
@boxspelunker: I'm so sorry. My family lost our dog almost three years ago and we still miss him. My dad would look up pictures of near-identical collies on adoption sites, but I was just like, no, we can't replace him.
My dad got a new dog last year, but he's just ...not the same. We had Chance forever, from the time I was eight to when I was sixteen. I really grew up with him. I still miss him sometimes, three years on, and I know my dad does too. :(
@mikaelamac: Thanks for this! I swear, I lose my faith in human beings every time someone makes fun of the incident. Just because someone's a celebrity people seem to feel free to judge them on EVERYTHING. I say some behavior is judge-worthy but love for an animal is not one of them, unless you judge them well for being able to show affection and care.
@boxspelunker: i was fostering a kitten 4 years ago, and after 2 weeks, my sister decided to keep him once he was old enough (i had to bottle feed him). but then one day he suddenly got really sick and died overnight at the vet's. i completely broke down when i had to go pick up his body, and that because i'd only had him for 2 weeks.
i had a dog who had to be put to sleep, but she was 17 years old and really sick by then, so we'd had time to kind of process it. i can't imagine what it would be like to have a pet snatched and killed so unexpectedly like that after having her for 5 years.
@boxspelunker: Aw, I'm so sorry :( I was kind of that way when my rat died. We've had a ton of pets ever since I was 6, and I never really have had to deal with them dying since the cats either run away, or they're snatched by owls/coyotes (we live in a desert area and the cats get to hang in the backyard). Now my dog is kind of hovering on the lip of grumpy-old-man time, and I worry constantly about him dying. I think I'm gonna freak out, like you did.
Pets are the best, especially the ones that you've cuddled with and loved and looked forward to coming home to for the past X amount of years. It hurts our hearts when they're gone.
@onestrawplz: Exactly! Don't kick someone when they're already down. She is allowed to be sad, too.
@dietgrrl: Thank you, I appreciate it. I wish your kitty a long and happy life with you!
@katie.scarlett.o'hara: Thank you. I have done the same thing - wanting to get one that looks like her, but I will have to wait (it's far too soon and my life was a little too unstable for a pet in the first place, but she was a friend's who couldn't care for her anymore and I couldn't stand the thought of her going to the Humane Society). They really do become a real member of the family, don't they? I'm sorry that you lost him :(
@faerietales: Oh no. I'm so sorry for your loss, too. After you've had to care for them like that, it's just devastating. Emby (my guinea pig) was sick the week before she died, and I had to syringe her medicine and water, and I was doing it up until she died of a heart attack in my arms. It feels so awful and desperate.
@Betty Bea Getty: My dog is the same way right now. She's just gotten old, and has cataracts and is completely blind. I know she'll be shuffling off the mortal coil soon, so to speak, and we've had her since I was about 9 or 10. It's hard to watch things suffer.
I feel really sorry for Jessica. If my dog died like that--heck, if my dog just died--I would lose my shit, and it would stay lost for a while. I probably need to go cuddle him now.
Also, word, Dave. It sucks that John Edwards wants you guys to play at his wedding.
@bluebears: Agree. It would be hard or me NOT to think of my doggie being eaten by Coyotes. It would probably play over and over in my head. This, after being publicly dumped and fired a few months before that...sigh, it's just not her year.
(Granted, my dog is bigger than a coyote, and could most likely make mincemeat of one that dared)
@wtfox?!: We love our 2 greyhounds so much that I can't imagine losing one so horribly. I haven't had feelings for JS one way or another but now I'm feeling fuzzies for her. Not enough to buy her shoes, but still warm fuzzies.
@wtfox?!: If I were at home, I would go cuddle my cats. Who would probably get annoyed with me.
I keep thinking of how terrified that poor dog must have been-ahh damnit. Can't do this at work. But I really feel sorry for her. Must pet my cats when I get home.
@moissie: My dog (Lab) was actually attacked--on his own front step--by a neighborhood dog that had gotten away from its owner. While the owner was flailing around helplessly, I dove in, pried the dog's jaws out of Finn's shoulder, and shoved it away.
Looking back on it, it was a pretty dumbfuck thing to do, but nothing in me was capable of standing there and watching my big, goofy wuss of a dog get savaged. And at least I was there, and capable of doing (or dumb enough to do) something... I can't imagine how hard it would be, just watching and knowing I couldn't do anything.
@wtfox?!: I have nearly the same story- front step, stray neighborhood dog, me having to put an end to it- except my dog is a chihuahua and the attacking dog was a husky. I was injured, my dog nearly didn't make it, and I lost my shit completely until we were sure he was out of the woods. Simpson gets my sympathy here, regardless of how I feel about her otherwise.
@wtfox?!: I once saw a dog get attacked and his head was literally clamped inside the other one's mouth. People were tugging at and bascially beating the dog so that it would let go, but it refused to release. Finally a woman came out of nowhere and poured Tabasco sauce in it's eyes and it immediately let go. You better believe I now carry a small bottle of red hot Tabasco sauce with me whenever when I walk my dog. Sounds crazy, but it works.
