The World Service just ran an interview between this MP and an ex-lad's mag editor.

I had to turn it off after the ex-editor announced that she was an old battle-axe who just had no idea what it was like to be a man because as a woman she wasn't "hardwired" to the visual.

Thus he demonstrated his uttering fucking, fuckwittedness and fundamental ignorance of women's fricking sexuality. Which is not all that surprising given that he used to run a lad's mag.

I'm not sure how to get less angry now, having listened to him.

Magazines of all catagories are definately go the way of the dinosaur and I don't think in a million years we will be using them as fossil fuel as we will most definately have moved on to fusion energy.

I only read a magazine if I have a free 1 year trial to them. Otherwise they are worthless. Especially when I can que up Jezebel and get up to date news about things that actually matter and I also get those wonderful comments you ladies/some gents post. Keep it up.

@basicvisual: In the old days, we used to send our copies of The American Mercury amongst ourselves, leaving small annotations in the margins and on slips of paper. It was a lot harder to friend fellow commenters though.

I applied to be a music critic at a newspaper in England. They told me that I should "do Page 3." "What's Page 3?" I asked. "Oh, you'd be great for it." "Okay, well what is it?" Then they opened to page 3, and it was a topless girl.

I left in a huff, hearing laughing all way the way.

As, yes. These magazines are like the cheeky seaside postcards of old. They hearken back to a gentler, slower-paced time when butter was churned by hand and so was the master of the house by his parlormaid.

I'm going to start my own ladymag and call it Labia. It will contain cheeky photos of male cheeks. And, in the lower right hand corner, there will be a cartoon flip book of a naked man dumping soap onto his body. But because Labia is a classy publication, there will be several special interest articles pertaining to cooking the perfect four cheese quiche (with a naked man), and surviving the recession (with a naked man).

@NewsBunny: They need to put the cost of these magazines up. They constantly put them on offers so they cost about 60p which is pocket money for even the youngest boys.

And of course you can take these upstairs to your bedroom unlike the family computer that sits in the living room with all that 'real porn' on it. Just like Grandpa did with his saucy seaside postcards...

Someone needs to tell Ben that there's a slight difference between one picture of a topless model in The Sun giving her inane view of a recent news event, and 80-odd pages of almost completely naked models craiking on endlessly about how much they absolutely love it in every orifice, all the time.
