@BabyJane: I have to say when I get a perm my hair rocks after the first couple days are over with. It is a mass of wild and gorgeous curls that lasts for years. So now I feel I should go find that gryphon since apparently I have a magical side to me. Maybe Hogwarts will come calling.

@BabyJane: I am actually not sure (but I will guess spiral), I just ask for a perm. The last time was a few years ago and the hairdresser was really resistant to it. When I pulled down my hair from the bun I had it in, she told me I already had curly hair and thus would have to go to the extreme to make a difference (I really don't it is just wavy with slight curls). She thought it would look bad but I had already had experience with it so knew better. The first couple days though my hair does look more like ramen noodles until it settles down.

My hair is my one vanity. It makes up for a lot of my self-perceived flaws.

@Elaken: Thanks for the info, I actually sent you a PM about this as well. I think part of my problem may be that my hair is wavy, but very fine. I probably just don't have the right hair type for a perm. Your hair sounds beautiful, by the way. I'd kill for that.

Brain.doesn't.work...I don't get this at all. Sadly, I want to see the rest of it just so I can make some kind of sense out of it. It reminds me of those really cheesy 'shows' that come on PBS in the afternoons that have some kind of life lesson. They are usually from the 80s and chock full of every stereotype you can imagine. Though I can't wager a guess at what the 'life lesson' in this one would be.

If they said,"No, it's ok...you look like a Black girl" then it would make sense. Well, no it wouldn't but it would be slightly less weird.

@Nessia: Yeah...I'm not convinced. According to Buzzfeed this came from the show Many Voices Many Visions, but that show is a multicultural public affairs program on PBS in upstate New York. So presumably they were critiquing this clip...but where did it actually come from?
