To be (a little) fair to Bravo, they did address the Wesley/Daniel relationship in their online 'interview the auf'ed contestant' show. #projectrunway

American reality television destroys any relationship it touches. It happened to Nick and Jessica, it happened to the Hogans, and it'll keep happening until people realize that only the deeply wacky (Osbournes, the first Bachelorette) can survive. #projectrunway

I read an interview where Daniel and Wesley spoke about how they tried to hide their romance from the cameras. How anyone can hide anything on a reality show is beyond me, but maybe that's why we didn't see much of it. I mean, they only have 5 days together. Its not hard to keep something under wraps for 5 days. #projectrunway

Doubt it. Even if it was love at first sight and smooth sailing the whole way through, they could have edited it into something more dramatic. Pretty clear-cut homophobia. Though I do agree that they were probably better off not having it used as a plot point. #projectrunway

I don't even know that I'd call the flirtation between Carol Hannah and Logan "played up" - they had what, two one-on-one camera confessions where she called him her hot friend and then he said she was funny and that they shared a table? Am I missing something here?

I've also thought the editing has been very different this year, remember when Tim Gunn complained to the remaining contestants about...I don't even remember who...lying on the runway about why he started over? Tim had told him it looked like the outfit was being attacked by birds, and the contestant tossed it out and then told the judges he ruined the garment on accident. I was shocked they edited in Tim gossiping like that, and I've noticed other little things like that that they've never edited in before. It's had a slightly more manufactured-drama feel this year. #projectrunway

Hm, I'm inclined to agree with Dodai's theory that the Wesley & Daniel romance was simply too low key to be depicted, plus both characters left fairly early (if I'm remembering right) and seemed highly normal and functional. Translation: reality tv snoozefest.

The "discreet" excuse is total bullshit though. Tim's just too nice to call their romance boring. #projectrunway

@bluebears: Exactly. We tend to enjoy dramatic craziness (a la the Kenley tranformation ) or stone-cold competition rather than nice, pleasant, happy things, at least in reality TV. In real life, of course, I'd rather hang around as the two boys fall in love than as Kenley bursts with annoyingness. #projectrunway

While I disagree that the Danial/Wesley romance was an example of homophobic editing, I have to agree with Kilkenny's larger point. Over the course of 6 season, PR has often show clips of the female designers talking about the hot straight guys, but I have yet to see one instance of a gay designer talking about how cute another man on the show is. And given Season 2? I guarantee it's happened. Now where did I leave Andre...

They might be embracing gay people, but it doesn't sound like PR is ready to embrace the gayness of the gay people. Which makes me sad. It would have been nice to see what sounds like a warm and supportive romantic fling on reality TV instead of the childish histrionics we more commonly get. #projectrunway

Nault was eliminated after *the second challenge.*

There were exactly TWO episodes in which their love affair could be aired, and those were the first two, which are always full of identifying The Cute One, The Crazy One, The Asshole, etc. They didn't have time to be like "Hey and these two are The Love Birds and they love each other and whoopsy it's been cut tragically short oh but here's a secret love message from Kenley… She's The Weird One, by the way… And now this guy is The Lovelorn One."

Maybe PR is guilty of homophobia… But this is not an example. #projectrunway

what makes the show great is that they focus on the tasks at hand and the personalities of the contestants, not about who's sleeping with whom. i'm over the reality shows who make it all about alliances and bedhopping and whatever..if i want to watch politics, i'd turn on cspan and fall asleep. #projectrunway

Well, they changed production companies, too. There are a lot of things going on this season that wouldn't have happened in a previous season (Logan even making it this far, for one). The new producers are manufacturing drama. #projectrunway

Another point: Bravo, which the show was on at that time, was not at all shy about depicting gay characters and their stories. I'm more inclined to believe that there was just too much else going on to include a love story that didn't last past the second challenge. This year, the characters are all mostly boring, even "the bitch" mostly keeps it to herself, and the innocent flirtation is about as much "drama" as they've got. #projectrunway

I wonder if, to a certain extent, we're comparing apples to oranges now that the show is on a different network than it was in previous seasons. All things being equal, though, it's clear someone is/was worried about middle America's comfort level. There's no other explanation. And that is really, really weak. #projectrunway
