What's all this then, about McGrabbyHands??? Do I even want to know? Is this going to destroy my image of Bill Richardson as a big ol' teddy bear?? NooooO! :(
Y'know, the more I hear about King Bill's wandering hands, the more I wonder why he didn't grope me when he had the chance, and that makes me a bad (and sad) feminist.
But I did give him a piece of my mind that (might have) helped my parents, so there. Suck it, Bill and go to Washington already.
And as long as we're talking about Georgians with serious issues, Congressman Paul Broun thinks that President-Elect Obama is going to be a dictator. Like Hitler. Seriously.
@amenfro: It really does not help to have such paranoid delusions legitimized by public officials. And coming from a Republican after 8 years of Bush is just ironic.
I want Lieberman to be taken out to the woodshed like most Dems but we still need his vote on domestic issues, one area where we can still count on him to not always defiantly fellate the GOP.
Damnit! It sucks when you loathe someone who is in the position to both help you and screw you.
Sigh. He gets a chance to show backbone and Harry Reid avoids confrontation again, instead hiding behind the Democratic caucus. How 'bout a reenactment of the second defenestration of Prague, Harry? You know, that time a couple of corrupt governors got heaved out a window into a giant pile of manure? Because I think that would be lovely.
@MeganGlass: You just cited my favorite historical event! When I was living in Prague I hunted for that building so that I could see the place it happened. I'm pretty sure I found it, too, although I didn't speak enough Czech to confirm it.
I love how the Catholic Church said that those guys survived because of angels rather than the nice, squishy pile of crap.
@Lilah: Yep, it's a pretty red letter day in history. And it's on my birthday, too! I love the church's story, and how people were all "whatever, dude, they landed in a giant pile of shit. Angels, my eye."
Also... don't count on Congress to examine Bush's abuses of power. It seems like Obama doesn't want to go in that direction at all. And frankly, while I think that most of the Bush administration should be in jail at this point, that doesn't bother me too much. I want Obama to focus on the future, not the past. For example, just the fact that his transition team leaked today that closing Guantanamo is going to be one of Obama's first, top priorities makes me unmeasurably happy.
@Crabby Cakes is SOLID AS BARACK!: Damn. If that were the case, I could never vote. When was the last time a gay sinlge-parent female half-Jewish red-haired Midwesterner ran for anything?
@Crabby Cakes is SOLID AS BARACK!: Because they're so sure that everyone is just like them, or ought to be, that the idea that a good person wouldn't be like them breaks their poor, tiny brains.
@Crabby Cakes is SOLID AS BARACK!: I actually have a prof who has been declared a "race traitor" by white supremacist groups for his liberal activism. When I first heard, I was caught between congratulating him (since that's a pretty clear sign that he is definitely making waves) and feeling like that was inappropriate (since the skinheads were basically declaring open season on him).
This made me giggle a little because both Barack and Michelle are highly trained professionals in the field of law. Regardless of the industry you're in, regardless of how squeaky clean your books are, audits are demanding and labor-intensive (both for auditors and auditees.) No one knows this fact better than a lawyer.
@Hamsterpants: Also, isn't he a cheater? As in there was some sort of scandal involving him and a tv anchor? I'm a little hazy on details, but I really think it was him.
@dianersb: He is screwing some babe from the Spanish language channel Telemundo. Who, incidentally, suspended her when the peccadillo was revealed. Of course, jackshit happened to Antonio, except his old lady divorced him, which he probably thought was FTW anyway. Assviking. I didn't vote for him.
@Hamsterpants: So so sad he's such a crappy mayor and a lousy husband, when he was enough of a feminist to to legally change his last name to a combination of his last name and his wife's.
@kansasgirl: Yeah, he's another colossal disappointment, like John Edwards. I totes picture them as the kind of guys who come on to you in college with their faux sensitivity and baby I'm a feminist and wow, listen to this great new Gin Blossoms song and meanwhile they're banging your roommate.
Kilo, you are ten kinds of awesome! Megan raises my blood pressure with mentions of Lieberman and Chambliss and you bring it back down with that gorge pic.
@the.bleach: It's from some magazine called Paris Match. I haven't heard of them before, but if they got Michelle in it shot by Annie Leibovitz, I am the one who was missing out.
@Kilotwat: It is an extraordinarily beautiful shot, but Paris Match is a little like Hello! or one of the more soft-soapy US tabloid magazines. So you're not missing out on much!
And it's been a long, long time since I earned my D in high school French... does it say something about the first lady not taking a second place role? Can someone explain exactly what it means?
@eatsshootsleaves: I hope she wears low-cut things more often! It's high time America loosens up about such things, and who better to lead the way? And really, so many dresses are designed to show a very reasonable, chaste amount of cleavage, cutting that out cuts out a lot of beautiful choices.
P.S. I think men should show cleavage more often, too.
@Kilotwat: This photo is amazing. Where did you find it? I keep seeing the other one by Leibowitz (where M.O. is looking over her right shoulder and facing away from the camera) on the Internet.
And if you're hankering for something a little more fanciful than photography, I highly recommend the Obama Art Report. Obama has been a real inspiration to us artistic types.

@Never_Nude is proud to welcome President Obama: I agree, the word "defenestration" does need to be used more often.

Why is it that repubs think we'll all vote for the person that is the same race/gender/religion, and not vote based on ISSUES?
