    I think the goats are supposed to represent the corruption of Satan at the heart of the government, and the rooster represents the betrayal of Jesus by Peter. The horse obviously is a reference to the Apocalypse. It all makes sense, especially if your last name means War.

    All this hemming and hawing about Hillary for Sec of State, whether it's rumors from her camp saying that she wouldn't take it even if it was offered, to all the news reports about Bill being willing to divest himself of any foreign donations to his foundation or whatever, is driving me crazy. JUST DO SOMETHING ALREADY. This whole process is turning into high school cafeteria gossip.

    Pritzker may be taking herself out of the running for Commerce according to the Chicago Tribune. Something about being unable to untangle herself from the many and varied Pritzker business holdings to the extend that the Obama administration would require.

    If true, this news about Janet sucks. Homeland Security is a crap job. If she leaves, we get crazy GOP Jan Brewer as governor which gives her a leg up on a run in 2010. And, because she's in DC, she won't stand much of a chance of running for Senate against McCain in 2010.

    @Political Party Girl: I love the quotation AND the string tie. It does sort of make me think that somehow, some country will set up some giant windblock so that nobody else will get any--not as though that could really happen, but it is a fantastic mental image, with just one country in a permanent whirlwind, fighting all of the others.

    @DramaClub: I don't know much about her, and disapprove of that stance on gay marriage -- but if she's DHS her opinion on who can get married won't matter and she won't have reason or opportunity to stump for it, so that's one positive.

    As a native of South Texas, I resent the statement about us all having campers and horses and roosters and goats. I definitely don't own a camper.


    That said, I was appalled when that report about abuse at a nearby federal prison came out, and Cheney's indictment--however slow and stupid the process may be going--is at least a step in the right direction. ¡Viva la revolucíon!

    Nice to see Cheney's indictment move forward, but make sure nothing happens until after Jan 20th, so that El Presidente Bush does not whip out his pardon pen. Could he pardon them before an actual trial takes place, to invalidate the indictment?
