Dina--I don't care that your kid is 21. You are ALWAYS their mom and should ALWAYS emulate a certain level of behavior. Now I'm not saying you can never have a drink with your kid. I'm not saying you can't get drunk with your kid, though that's getting close to the line. Encouraging drunken debauchery is never a good parenting move, no matter how old your kid is.
Oh Madam Kitt! RIP, darling! Why do we even HAVE that lever?! (Let's see who gets that one...)

There was also a lot of discussion about this topic in a recent Real Housewives thread.
I think the distinction here is: whether you're a 20-something starlet or a 40-something mom, it's generally considered in poor form to get sick-stumbling drunk and flash wide swaths of your anatomy and act generally tacky.

Yeah, but aunt versus mom/dad can make all the difference. Maybe my parents are just conservative, but I have a cool aunt who let me drink too. My parents, however, would never do that.
