    I've always been very jealous of her calfs.

    oh man...that was so boring. and I thought I was uber bored BEFORE I started reading. about nothing. and nobody.

    Are these women on some sort of contractual agreement that they must do a certain number of magazine covers per year? Sorry, I'm just tired of the same people staring out at me from magazine shelves.

    The more I look at that Natalie Portman cover, the more amused I am by the extreme crazyface. But props where they're due: finally a neckline that isn't completely unflattering! (I reserve the right to assume that the dress ends 4 inches above her ankles, though.)

    Kate Hudson looks like Hayden Panetierre (I cannot even begin to believe I spelled that correctly. The cheerleader from Heroes, is who I mean) on that cover. RE Britney's cover, I like little kids in suspenders. Awww cuteness.

    For real. With the exception of Lady Gaga and Britney holding her kids, you could have told me these were covers from 5 or even 10 years ago and I would have believed you.

    Uh, Natalie, I did go to high school parties, and I managed not to touch alcohol until college and still haven't touched pot.

    Of course, where I come from, cow tipping is a semi-standard party game, so YMMV.

    @Ratinski: COW TIPPING. That brings up some sad and fun memories for me.

    Also, I agree; I went to high school parties and, while I drank occasionally, never overindulged. I also dated druggies and even a pot dealer, but never felt the urge to try their product m'self. Generalizations FTW!

    @Ratinski: Hi. I think we're from the same town. Cow tipping! Do you know lots of people think it's an urban legend (or more correctly a "rural legend" I guess)? They think it's just a really successful rumor. I had the longest, most drawn out fight about this with a boyfriend in college. IT'S REAL. WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO.

    I could give two shits about Brad Pitt, but give me a break! Sorry the structures are not "esthetically pleasing" to some armchair architect who probably bid on the job and lost out because it wasn't green, practical or efficient. Pitt may not have the most pleasantly appealing taste when it comes to having things built, but you gotta admit, houses on stilts? Genius.

    @kookla: Houses on stilts are a south Louisiana staple... along the bayous, you see tons of them (when I was younger, I lived in one raised house that was over 100 years old).

    In fact! My entire family still lives along the bayous, and they all -had- to raise their houses in order to keep their home insurance. (Another post-hurricane gripe: The Road Home program was supposed to fund all these house raisings, and went bankrupt before they could pay out, leaving hundreds without the funds to save their homes / insurance policies.)

    @kookla: This was my exact reaction. He's trying to do something good for a cause he cares about - celebrity or not, no one deserves to have that thrown in their face over 'aesthetics,' and in light of Vee's post about how much of a staple houses on stilts are, the comment makes even less sense.
