I kind of thought Michelle looked too casual when meeting the Queen, as well. I hate when people's - not necessarily people here, but on "The View," for example - response to criticism of Michelle or Barack is along the lines of, "She's a wonderful person. She's a good mother. He looks a great father. Etc." What does that have to do with the criticism at hand?
Here's what I don't get about designers suing Forever 21 for copying their looks: is Forever 21 really pinching the designers' markets? I can almost guarantee Trovata that the people shopping at Forever 21 would not have purchased the "original" item from the designer line ever, ever, ever.
@jigglyball: I agree. Outright copying a design is tacky, sure, but I don't think it takes away their customers. All fashion trickles down in one form or another, and designers copy each other all the time.
Three on the left: Very funny joke going on. I want to know what is it all about! Three on the right: Looking at the same place with WTF faces. Why? I want to know too! Why people don't explain these kinds of things to me, you know, the important stuff, why??!
Re: Isaac Mizrahi, I saw a WSJ article about his new line for Liz Claiborne last week, and when they spoke to him he also mentioned that the haircut is what women should be splurging on. Like it's the most important part of a woman's look. Exceedingly weird for a clothing designer to say, no?
PS - Tim Gunn also said in his book that haircuts are one of the few things that are worth spending big $$ on. Are these guys in bed with the hairstylists or something?
@wordinedgewise: It's an interesting take. I don't know about women from other races, but hair care is a massive expense for a lot of African-American woman and is a fairly large sub-section of the beauty industry.
@wordinedgewise: It makes sense to me. If you've got great clothes but your hair is a mess, you'll look a mass. Same thing with eyebrows. If you have great makeup and flawless skin but eyebrows that are out of whack, your face will look out of whack.
@vanka-vstanka: @Chicklet: It makes sense to me too, totally agree about hair capping off the whole look, but I would have thought someone trying to sell clothes would be like "sure hair is important but BUY MY SHIRTS PLEASE!"
He's a leader in formal wear. Someone asked him what he thought about Michelle's outfit at Buckingham Palace and he said it was too casual. Its not a big deal, I doubt Michelle even cares. He doesn't have to go on the View to apologize. Azzedine Alaïa's comment is much bitchier.
Angela Merkel looks like she's going to start tap dancing (giggles). All three ladies look very pretty in this pic, all of them with very different styles. Also, Sarkozy has something hot going on, I just can't figure out what it is. In related news, I'm in my "being superficial" mode today. Blame it on the darn period about to come.
@lilbobbytables loves Jim Henson: Am I missing some artistic/historical reference? Why is Chris Cornell dressed up like a dead knight? What the fuck is going on here?
@lilbobbytables loves Jim Henson: The worst part of it for me is the little weather gizmo in the upper right hand corner showing that it's 17 degrees in London right now.
17 degrees! It's fucking barely above freezing here! I wore my down coat this morning. Canada, I hate you.
@JaniceLovejoy fromSA: Whiskey and popcorn: I love Agent Provocateur but the only thing of theirs I can afford is the perfume! (Which, nevertheless, I adore and douse myself in at every opportunity!)
