    Also, important to note the difference between fetish and kink. Kink is something you enjoy during sex. Fetish is something you need to actually enjoy sex.

    @LaComtesse: Hm. I'm wondering, then, what these kinds of preferences are called. I like women who can wear a short haircut well, and sometimes it makes a little flutter in my stomach. But it's not something I enjoy during sex, and certainly far from necessary.

    What's the right term?

    @#c15121666: Thanks for clarifying. It bugs me when people misuse the word. I ususally ask them if they cannot get aroused without the object.

    It usually is someone talking about a "shoe fetish" or some other thing they covet.

    @LaComtesse: False. A fetish is something (usually something unusual that most people are not turned on by) that you find arousing - not something you NEED to enjoy sex.

    A kink, on the other hand, is something that is sexual but implies deviance, like getting tied up.

    There are levels of fetishism - SOME people do need the object to become aroused. But that's a Class III Fetishist. Classes I and II are just people with a strong preference for feet, bobbed hair, etc.

    I once dated a guy whose fetish was fog!
