PETA's hypocrisy in consistently inserting themselves into the media discussions of the Vick case is mind-boggling. They've supported Breed Specific Legislation (i.e. a ban on - and euthanasia policy for - all pit bulls) for years: [www.badrap.org]
And directly after the Vick bust, they publicly advocated having all of the surviving dogs put down without any health screenings, temperament testing, nothing. Thankfully, organizations like BAD RAP and Best Friends Animal Society stepped in and the majority of the dogs have been adopted and are living out their lives as loving, happy members of families - the way they were meant to be. You can see how some of them are doing here: [vickdogsblog.blogspot.com]
@andBegorrah: Are you me? I spend an embarrassing amount at the Best Friends website. I have dreams of moving to their ranch in Utah and just quitting society to take care of abused animals.
What they do is simply amazing. Two of the dogs are in foster homes, which is the first step toward getting adopted.
@morninggloria: I'm not saying that I sometimes spend an hour or four reading BAD RAP's blog ([badrap-blog.blogspot.com]) and crying, but yes that's what I'm saying.
(And! Shamelessness! They're holding a photo contest for their 2010 calendar and my pup is one of the entrants. Vote! Vote all over the place! You can vote as often as you like - just like Chicago!)
Shame on BET for continuing the charade that is Michael Vick and his new image. I honestly could care less about his childhood, nor his idea of redemption. Sadly, BET and Viacom would prefer to benefit from the torture of animals.
@ArtfulSlinger: The Humane Society has voiced their approval, so hopefully it will focus more on how and why he came to abuse animals and his efforts to understand the nature of his crime so as to de-glamorize it for young fans, rather than on him as a martyr. (Though I'm not getting my hopes up.)
At least whatever profits he makes from the show go in part toward the dogs' care.
I don't interpret the reported rape stats as good news, necessarily. I suspect fewer women are reporting rapes because they know there's practically no point.
I never really made the connection between people who want to punch me in the face and people who want to cut my hair. I actually would hope that those who do wish to punch me in the face would refrain from cutting my hair, and vice versa. What's next?

Yeah, I went to the Knockouts website. When you click on the "Services" page a picture pops up of a woman in skimpy shorts straddling a massage chair. I will second that "oh really?"
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: Yeah uhhhhh Washington has got them on the pervy market. We have "bikini baristas" that have popped up everywhere. They're just tiny little coffee houses with topless women brewing coffee.
I like how the creepy Australian therapist guy uses the excuse that the sexual assault victim came onto him. Isn't it majorly common for patients to develop feelings for their therapists? And wouldn't you think that a sexual assault victim in particular might have some issues around sex and men that would lead to her idealizing the man who's supposedly helping her work through it? So, shouldn't he have known 1) to expect it, 2) how to deal with it, and 3) that it's completely unethical to take a doctor-patient relationship in a sexual direction? Basic ethics.
Sorry for the rant, it just drives me up a wall to see a f*cking doctor use the same played out "but she wanted it!" crap. Ethics, friend. Look into it.
@yvanehtnioj: It's actually more common for clients to develop feelings for their counselor, on account of them being emotionally validated and so forth.

@KimberleeJean: My town used to have one called "Trim." I rejoiced when it closed because noone wanted to pay double just to have some Hooters waitress cut their hair.
I don't understand the problem with women in "boxing gear". I mean, if that's what they wear in the above picture, well, have fun in NE in the winter, but there's nothing particularly offensive about it. They're in shorts and a tee shirt!

Secret message me a way to vote for your doggie. I will vote as many times as Richard M. Daley will vote in the Democratic primary next year. Dozens.
