Also, can someone advise Elizabeth that her role in life is not to defend every fucking woman who claims to be "conservative" no matter what they do. She would defend Sarah Palin shooting a baby in the face. It's seriously unreal and her credibility goes in the toilet with that bullshit. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Newsflash: Carrie Prejean is a fucking bitch. She was probably a bitch in high school and she's still a bitch now. I typically prefer to use the word "asshole" since it's gender-neutral...but it's applicable here so I'll allow it.
She was a bitch to the pageant directors (did you read those emails? They were crazy fucked-up spoiled entitled rude-as-a-motherfucker emails...to essentially her bosses). She was a bitch to gay people. She was a bitch to Larry King. And she was a bitch on The View. If it walks like a bitch and talks like a bitch... #carrieprejeanbitchy
Carrie Prejean is not fighting for her life. She's fighting for her reputation and to be "heard". I personally do not think she has much to say other than how attacked she is, and therefore I don't see why she needs to keep going on TV and informing us about it.
Let me tell you about a little friend of mine who did fight for his life. His name was not Jesse, but that's what I'll call him. There will be dramapants and self-righteousness to follow, prepare cookies and juice for that part.
He was probably about 14 when he first got sexually assaulted. By an older man. He had promised Jesse a good relationship, blah blah blah, in order to keep Jesse's sexuality a secret.
That didn't happen.
Jesse was repeatedly assaulted by this man. He didn't come forward about it, because he was afraid of people's reactions and what they would do to him.
Of course, it got out. He was seen with the older guy too many times. Something was up. Rumors started. He started getting threatening notes. Weird shit was left in his locker at school. People stole his stuff, broke it, threw it at him, whatever. It was supposed to humiliate him.
At some point, it just got to be too much. He was probably 17, 18 years old. I don't remember. And that was when he tried to kill himself.
You can blame him if you want. You can say that "well, at least no one else attacked him," or some trite bullshit that makes it look as if Jesse decided to end it all just to spite people. But luckily for him, the telephone pole that he he smashed his car into didn't crush the car. Or him. He lived.
He was in ICU for ages. I don't really remember how long. I only knew him on the internet, but that doesn't make it less real for him and his family. It doesn't remove the pain from sexual assault. It doesn't stop his classmates from tormenting him.
He fought for his life. He won. Jesse is alive and isn't all that well, but he's alive.
Oh, and Hasselbeck? Jesse's not alone. He never was, and with people who believe that gay people are Less Than, he never will be. Prejean is not "fighting for her life". Jesse did, and luckily for him, he won. Because of bigotry, he had to face down a lot of shit and he made it out. He might not.
I just lost a friend of mine to suicide a few weeks ago. I didn't know her well, but I know why she did it - being trans is hard. Bigotry, the threat of violence, the discrimination, the constant fight for identity and sometimes, survival, overtakes us. Kelly is dead. Jesse is not. Some of us win that fight and some of us lose it.
Prejean is not fighting for her life. Prejean has no fucking clue how bad it could be. She lost her crown and her job. She's apparently still quite wealthy. She wrote a book. Her voice is heard. So fuck you, Hasselbeck. I know it's hard to lose things that are important to you, but she doesn't know discrimination. She is wallowing in privilege.
Come on, Prejean, spend a day in Jesse's shoes. Why don't you live Kelly's life, and tell me how you are attacked? Why don't you try out being one of us disgusting gays and let me know how it works out?
@boxspelunker: If I wasn't against everything that happened to those two people at the hands of bigotry, I would readily amass some sort of group and demonstrate to Elisabeth and Carrie how damaging their opinions can be when turned on them. #carrieprejeanbitchy
@tervalicious: Sometimes, I wish for virtual reality just so I can use it to explain why being a bigot is damaging. Then, no one gets hurt and yet, maybe they would understand. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is one of the dumbest people ever. No wonder she defends Carrie Prejean - they're members of the same No-One-Will-Ever-Ask-Us-To-Join-Mensa Club. #carrieprejeanbitchy
i think joy had the best point. carrie prejean could have dis-a-fucking-peared months ago and no one would have cared (in fact, we all would have cheered), but she CHOSE to continue to be in the spotlight and when you go into the spotlight and say controversial things (about morality) and then do controversial things (that might indicate a little moral hypocrisy) people are going to talk about you.
i personally dont think carrie prejean is "fighting for her life." and if she is, she is fighting for her life all the way to the bank. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Round of applause for the screengrabs! I've made that same face Whoopi is making many a time. Usually it's whenever I hear Elisabeth speak. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Dear Elizabeth,
I know this may come as a shock, as it is unlikely anyone has said this to you before, but: Fame and popularity are not actually crucial to one's survival. In fact, billions of people continue to breathe every day without one or both of those things.
Who knew, right?
Sincerely,
The Rest of Us #carrieprejeanbitchy
@colormeroutine: whoa. Elizabeth is a REALITY STAR that was on SURVIVOR. I think she know's a thing or two about surviving. I mean, what would she have been without those cameras on that island? #carrieprejeanbitchy
I had NO IDEA that throwing yourself under the media storm with only a flimsy hate umbrella to protect you counted as life-or-death. Nobody has challenged her safety, people have only challenged her views and hypocrisy. You'd think, seeing as yesterday was Veteran's Day and all, Little Miss Patriot wouldn't tarnish the sacrifice of people who actually have/are fighting for their lives. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Dear Sarah Palin, Carrie Prejean, and Elizabeth Hasselbeck,
Just as you are allowed to state your opinion, others are allowed to state theirs. Just because you've stated your opinion doesn't mean that others don't have the right to question it.
If you think any of these statements are negated by the First Amendment, then you don't understand the First Amendment.
It's hilarious to hear Hasselbeck say "fighting for her life". Huh?? No, she's fighting for fifteen more minutes of fame. Fighting for their life is what soldiers are doing in the Middle East because of your favorite former president. Kudos to Joy for calling Elisabeth out on her ridiculously overdramatic language. #carrieprejeanbitchy
@annebreal: Not to mention fighting to sell a few more of her books. I believe that's why we're plagued with her lately - she's pushing her 'autobiography'. #carrieprejeanbitchy
Does anyone remember the old SNL send-up of the View that they did in the late'90s? The premise was that the other ladies despised Debbie and would punish her for saying stupid things. In particular, I remember Barbara ordering Debbie to "get in her cage." I'm tempted to tell Elisabeth to get into her cage, but that might come across as offensive.
@EdnasEdibles: It's amazing how many people do not realize that the best way to defend your right to privacy is not to write a book and then go on national TV and talk about it. #carrieprejeanbitchy
