I love Denzel. The man should have won his Oscar for Malcolm X but I enjoyed his the over the topness of Training "King Kong ain't got nothing on me" Day.
I agree with today's NYT review that said he is one of the most charismatic American actors since Paul Newman.
He's a stage trained actor, not a rapper. Denzel's dying breed. I can't even name two young black male actors who have the range or opportunity Denzel had. Sad.
@nyc-caribbean-ragazza: Chiwetel Ejiofor and Idris Elba. I actually totally agree with your point, but I was just talking about this last night- about how there is a generation of black actors coming out of Britain who are stage trained and once they get there American accents down seem to be doing amazingly versatile work. It's still not enough though, obviously, and I think it's sad that the U.S. seems to only be pulling from rappers. Not that they're all bad, but still.

Relevant part starts around 2:30. (And Will Smith does seem a better fit) :-)
