    As a fundraiser, I think Texas Southern has every right to remove Smiley's name. Non-profits rely on those funds to help build the building. They might be in the hole because he hasn't paid up. #lindsaylohan

    Normally I'd be like, ugh, why are we remaking My Fair Lady? But the combination of Emma Thompson writing the script, which gives me hope that it'll be far more critical of class and his misogyny, Joe Wright, whose directing Atonement made an excruciatingly and sadly beautiful film, and Knightley who I think is really underrated and does in fact make sense in the role...makes me want to see it.

    The thing about MFL is that, if you do it right, it's actually a scathing criticism of classism and sexism and in the end Eliza tells him to screw off and takes what she's learned and does something she actually wants. We've just obsessed on the makeover part, and re-appropriated it, and completely misunderstood that the physical transformation is superficial and not at the core of the criticism. Which is that you have this pompous, misogynistic old white guy thinking it's entertaining to take a poorly educated poor woman and "remake" her.

    Anyway, maybe I'm naive, but that team up actually gives me hope. I like Knightley a lot, actually. I think she has one of the most breathtaking and interesting faces...and she actually usually stars as very interesting, not standard female characters. And I actually loved her as Lizzie Bennett. #lindsaylohan

    @tiredfairy: Fellow Keira Knightley fan here. Loved her in Atonement and The Duchess. I think she might do really well as Eliza Doolittle.

    @whynotshesaid: Me too. She has a preturnatural presence and poise for someone as young as she is. And frankly, I could look at her forever. I don't know why, but her face is just my platonic ideal...along with Cate Blanchett, she's one of a handful of people whose physical beauty reminds me of why I'm glad to be an artist.

    She was really wonderful in Antonement and The Duchess. Between those and Bend it Like Beckham, Pride & Prejudice, and even The Jacket, she's done a wider range of characters than people realize. #lindsaylohan

    You know Lindsay, maybe they're criticizing you because they didn't like the work you put out. It seems a little silly to say they didn't like it because they enjoy "targeting" you or some such nonsense. Accept the criticism and try again, but don't think you know better than everyone else and they're all wrong.. #lindsaylohan

    Yes, remaking Pygmalion/My Fair Lady sounds like a disaster. But since I LOVED the latest Pride and Prejudice with Kiera in it; I believe that this project has at least some small chance of success... #lindsaylohan

    @Island of Misfit Toys: At the very least, Keira will make a more believable grubby flower-seller than Audrey Hepburn did. The original was great, but it wasn't without flaws, and trying to picture Miss Hepburn as a street urchin is a major struggle. #lindsaylohan

    @ketamineKitty: I think it's obnoxious that they are remaking it. The original movie is already based on the musical, which was based on the play "Pygmalian," which was based on a Greek myth.

    @FattyCatty: ..The '60s Hollywood adaptation of "Pygmalion" starred Audrey Hepburn but used Julie Andrews' voice. Andrews had done the role in the musical version on the London stage, and was/is a wonderful singer.

    How history repeats itself.. Only lamer. I mean, Scar Jo put out that charming album of Tom Waits covers, but c'mon, she's no proper Broadway belter. #lindsaylohan

    @noisy doll: Correct! I just Googled it.. I guess I was confused because Julie Andrews had successfully played the part of Eliza against Rex Harrison in the stage version of the "Pygmalion" musical, and there was a kerfuffle in Hollywood because the producers ex-nayed her as an option from the get-go. My bad!

    @snugbug: Since Julie Andrews wasn't allowed to play her part in the movie she ended up playing Mary Poppins instead, and winning an Oscar for it. So I kind of like the way it turned out in the end. #lindsaylohan

Also, Julie Andrews' "My Favorite Things" number from The Sound of Music has proven itself to be more of a pop culture staple than "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady.. And for the record, I adore both Dutch-born Audrey Hepburn and Brit-born Julie Andrews..

    @FattyCatty: I think it's obnoxious they're remaking it just because the original is such an unbeatable classic. But more generally, let's be honest - there's very little that's new, creatively speaking. I mean, "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", about a post-op transexual from East Germany, has a song based on one of Plato's dialogues. The question is whether you can do something interesting with the tradition. #lindsaylohan

    @velleity: And that's why I wouldn't mind a remake with real singers, because the dubbing (Audrey) and talking (Rex) rather than singing always annoyed me. I am a musical theater nerd and I want everyone in a musical to actually do what the role calls for. #lindsaylohan

    @tinydundie42: Oh, I agree. I just meant that Hollywood had clearly set a precendent of fame over talent even with this movie.

    What's also weird is the even considered Scarlett and Keira, when Anne Hathaway seems like a natural choice.

    @jollydolly: That's one reason why I'd rather see them make Pygmalion, because though she is transformed, the ending is better, to me anyway.

    Plus, her cockney accent couldn't be worse than Hepburn's.

    It is insanely unprofessional for a security guard to ask for a photo on a movie set. When I was in college, I crewed a few concerts and TV shows and I was told repeatedly not to ask for autographs or pictures. You have a job to do and they job to do. I don't blame The Rock for being pissed. #lindsaylohan
