    Speaking of Palin, today I got stuck behind a pickup with a " McCain hit the bulls-eye when he picked Palin" sticker. It was orange and had a bulls-eye and it confused me because I wasn't sure what it was saying-I finally figured it must be "Yay for gun rights," but a "Sportsmen for McCain/Palin" seemed more apt.


    And I will so make fun of all the people with McCain/Palin stickers on their cars now. It's one reason I don't put campaign stickers on my car-I don't want to be immediately recognizable as playing for the losing team when I drive to Arby's.

    K... I'm watching Countdown, and I'm reminded why I stopped watching the "news". He's got this pinhead on complaining about Obama keeping Gates. He's whining 'How is keeping Gates "change we can believe in? It's more of the same!" Dude! It's ONE person from the Bush Admin!

    It's Peter Orszag, not David, but regardless I'm pretty excited about his appointment. My office has worked with him at OMB before, and I've heard him speak on healthcare a number of times, and he is brilliant!

    Keeping Gates on is a good choice. In light of just how much a SecDef is obligated to go along with what the Prez says, he's done a fine job and will have the chance to do even better under Obama. Same goes for General Petraeus. Under the uniform code of military justice, his mouth is about 90% legally attached to the president's wishes. That other 10% is why General Shinseki was "retired" after telling Bush and Rumsfeld that blowing into Iraq without enough troops or a plan was a lousy idea. I'm looking forward to seeing another side of Petraeus in the coming administration.

    @CrazyLegsMeg: She does all the ceremonial stuff, like laying the keel (actually just writing her name on a piece of metal) and smashing the champagne bottle when the boat is launched. This one is actually a submarine, but all large boats have sponsors.

    So, the state of Florida is going to spend money it could be spending, like, I don't know, caring for and finding homes for children, appealing a court case so that it can keep people from caring for and providing long term homes for children? Way to let the kids know where your priorities are!

    I do not want John Kerry, Chris Dodd, or Bill Richardson to be SoS, actually. I suppose it would be Dodd if I HAD to pick among them, but Republicans would hate Dodd and he's been under fire lately for his ties to Fanny and Freddie, among other things.

    The rumors regarding Robert Kennedy? Yeah, um, would like someone with an actual background in science, yo. He's a great guy and all but...no. As for Arnie as Secretary of DOE? Considering he's hoping CA will cut the K-12 + community college budget by over $2 billion and the UC and CSU budget by $132 million? NotSoMuch with the education there if you can't afford the fees.
