I know I'm late to the party with this thought, but does anyone else think that maybe the butler guy was trying to save tara and eggs by interrupting them like that? because he's seen what maryann can do, and he grew a conscience or something?
Wait, wait waaaaait. Jez is recapping this? Now I have to comment on io9 and Jez's recap in one day? That's cool.
While I get all the Sookie hate, I was glad to see her interact with Jason and Tara in a non reprimanding level. Sookie has always been the moral compass of the show, but she's been coming on a little strong lately. It was nice seeing her actually treat Jason and Tara like her brother and best friend for once.
Also, where's the Hoyt love?
And as for Lafayette. I think Eric is more concerned about the missing vampire supplying the V than the V itself.
@Phyllis Nefler: Seriously. Sam breaks my tiny, little heart. It would be nice to see him get a little love and affection this season. And not just because I want to see his fine ass again.
Maryann is a maenad. A worshipper of Dionysius. She's all about sex, gluttony, and hardcore partyin'. And orgies. God, Alan Ball had better include that orgy scene wherein Eric shows up in pink tights. I WILL NOT BE DENIED! *pumps fist*
@LikeALady: at paleyfest, someone asked Alexander and Alan if we were going to see that scene and Alex was all "I hope so, I would love to wear pink spandex" lol
Anyone else hate Jason. I really wish i could fast forward through all his scenes. I can't decide which plotline is more deplorable/annoying; Jason likes to stick it in warm orificies or Jason the religious fundie, ugh.
@Eric Northman is mine: and you know he's going to boff the reverend's wife. he was totally sizing her up. i wonder what role the good reverend will play? his sexuality seemed pretty ambiguous & in the first season it was hinted (by a vamp) that the reverend was gay
@Phyllis Nefler: My brother identifies with Jason. He claims that he's dumb too, which is why he likes Jason so much. They even kind of look alike. He REALLY liked that "gold pants" scene :)
Is the hot black guy real? Or just some kind of trick?
- I say he is real & is another pawn. it seems like maryanne is trying to play matchmaker & has a vested interest in eggs & tara getting it on. maybe if they both fornicate in her presence or at her home they, unwittingly, assume the roles of disciples to her hummingbirdness?
Oh and who is seriously digging Maryann. I ROFLAMO at that bitch slap, poor googly eyed Carl. "No one needed towels!". This woman is fierce and not to be messed with.
@Eric Northman is mine: LOL. My brother and I laughed so hard. We were JUST talking about how we would slap the shit out of that guy because nobody needed any towels! And then that scene interrupts us and she does just that.
At first I was kind of skeeved out by her character because she's kind of sinister, but that part just made me love her.
woo! I heart this show. I think it does a great job staying true to the *spirit* of the books but has its own charms & surprises. Lafayette is my favorite character, it's great that he wasn't offed. My guess is the Vamps suspect him in the death of Eddie.
Eric was so hot with that tight black tank & foil-wrapped hair. Looks so good it makes you wanna beg for buttermilk (and other stuff)
Sookie is so annoying and selfish and is always so hard on Bill. He goes away for a couple of days and she ends up making out with Sam. Bill has never turned anyone before but he had to turn Jessica to atone for saving her and she's upset and acts like Bill didn't have to make this huge sacrifice for her. She doesn't even show any appreciation for the lengths he went to save her/come back to her!!!! Arghh, she's so lovely yet flawed in the books but i loathe her on the show.
Pairing uptight, anal retentive Bill with Jessica. Loved that recycling line, I guess if you're going to be around for a while you'd give a crap about conservation. LMAO, Jessica provides a great deal of comic relief (can we eat her? You're so not Eric! This blows!) ; It's like watching a dad fight with an out of control teenager. A slattern? I mean really. Good times
Am I the only one who's just not feeling Anna Paquin in this? Seriously, Sookie's storyline is not half as interesting to me as the supporting characters.
@dandelionbrowne: yup, it's so strange my fav characters are Eric (obviously), Pam and Lafayette. From reading the books I can tell you that lookwise/personality portrayal, Anna Paquin is soo off as Sookie. Sookie is supposed to be a voluptous, blonde, blue eyed girl with a siaeable rack (it's partof her heritage) but they completely botched that.
@dandelionbrowne: I think a lot of people don't like her. Personally, I think she's great, but I've always liked her. I've heard people complain that the accents are terrible in relation to how they should sound... As someone who has spent ZERO time in the South, I have no idea what they are supposed to sound like.
@Eric Northman is mine: *edit*-sizeable. And even personlity wise yeah she's stubborn and doesn't like asking for help but she isnt as whiny, she's funny, brave, loyal and a whole lot of other good stuff that really isn't translating on the small screen.
I'm not a Paquin fan, so maybe that's part of it. I do think she has the quirky weird part of Sookie down, but her sex scenes with Bill are just the most unsexy things I've watched. Totally extra and unecessary.
@dandelionbrowne: and the crazy thing about the cast is a good chunk of them are not American, Bill is British, Jason is Australian, Eric is Swedish so at times the accent is a bit off. Eric/Alex is lucky that he doesnt have to do a souterhn accent though, seems like he was born to play this part. Swedish Viking living in present day America. awesome!
@dandelionbrowne: No, I'm with you. she's absolutely terrible in this show. The entire cast acts circles around her (an oscar and golden globe winner) and it's kind of painful to watch sometimes.
nelsan ellis deserved that golden globe. not her. i really, really hope he gets some recognition for the amazing job he does on this show.
@chxation: love Pam and i love the way she is with Eric, they tease each other but they totally respect each other and would go all out for the other. I can't wait to see more of her this season.
@Vivelafat says Sweep the leg, Johnny.: @hatepaperdoll: I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but if the show is remaining even remotely close to the books, she's definitely something like what you're both describing. I can't be sure because in the book the situation was totally different (Tara doesn't exist) but I think she's a creature that showed up there.
@stacyinbean: I think you're right. Remember when Tara saw the woman with the razorback hog on the side of the road? I'm pretty sure they're following the books' storyline of that situation through Mary Ann.
@brattlesnake: Definitely. I didn't want to spill the whole maenad thing, but since someone else above did, whatever! I think she is the one that killed Miss Jeanette for messing with Tara, especially after the way she told off Tara's mother last night. (btw, that was amazing.)
@Vivelafat says Sweep the leg, Johnny.: @stacyinbean: @laetitiae: Ooooh, the goddess thing seems good. Maybe a Demeter/Persephone type thing? She had a pig with her, and I seem to remember pigs were sacrificed for Demeter. The whole earth mother thing works too.
@stacyinbean: I love the show, but I've read the books and everyone's questions mean I'm biting my tongue so hard it bleeds!
Also, Tara DOES exist in the books, but as a more minor (and white) character. So strictly speaking, Tara is in both, but in reality, they're two different women, both named Tara. Regardless, y'all should read it.
@Fatwetdog: I'm starting to love Jessica, Can we eat her? You are so not Eric, This blows!!!!. hahah, it's like watching a dad and an out of control teenager. I bet Bill will stake her by the end of the season, roflamo!
I haven't watched last nights episode yet, but I'm pretty sure that Maryann is Eggs, via some sort of magic shape shifting, teleporting ability. He just seems to perfect to exist; like she created him just for Tara.

I'm sure Maryann had something to do with the death of Miss Janette. Maybe she killed her because she thought it would win Tara's loyalty?

Eric held those in the basement who had wronged vampires. Lafayette sold V and Teh other dude burned the monroe vampires.
Who does Eric's highlights?
I'm guessing his oh so fabulous second in command Pam
