    No shit. I don't think I could be anywhere near a body of water that looked it could remotely contain a shark if I'd lost my arm to one.


    Major props to this girl for being one heck of a role model, not to mention surfer. She's got all kinds of strength I'll never have.

    I am so, so impressed by her, and in my on-going attempts to find tough-ass girls to hold up to my kids, I really want to hold her up. Only I'm personally so horrified by what she went through (as a Mommy, or as a scardy-cat, I don't know which) that I can barely bring myself to look at her. Apparently it's embarrassing true-confession time for ellaesther. Perhaps I'll try to get over myself? Hmm. It's a thought. I'll show this to the kids this afternoon.

    @sportz.star: I always think the same thing. I saw her on a sports docu show awhile back and kept saying, "she learned how to surf with 2 arms, lost an arm, and is STILL kicking ass." Surfing is SO hard, and all about balance.


    It's phenomenal that she was able to adapt so quickly. She's INSPIRING, for reals.
