@theysaidwhat: Which reminds me, I saw Lantana the other day, and it was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. All of the lead actresses were in their 40s.
I have never bought Michael Douglas as a romantic lead at any age, because he's always seemed so cold and stiff to me. My favorite role where I actually did like him was in Wonder Boys. He made a great graying writer/professor stumbling around a bathrobe.
As for the media executive ripping up a picture of Connelly - is this guy a toddler? How ridiculous.
@Pantra: I loved him in Wonder Boys. It was a good, dignified use of his talent. A lot of times the older actors just seem silly when they are paired with much younger love interests. I want more movies for adults, please!
It's nice that Kellan Lutz has the Pretty working for him, because he sure as shit doesn't have the Smart. Bless. It's like watching a baby deer learn to walk. And then shoot itself with a 12 gauge shotgun.
Poor Michael Douglas, being cut off from romantic leads at the ripe old age of 64. I'd feel worse for him if that didn't usually happen for actresses around age 40.
After reading the full story about Jennifer Connelly, I think that movie exec wasn't just rude, but a full-on douche. An apology that starts out, "I'm sorry if she took my gesture the wrong way..." is the world's most obvious non-apology. An apology that goes on to say, "I was only kidding! Sorry if she can't take a joke!" is being an asshole.
It is refreshing to hear children of celebrities, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, sound so grounded. Sure they have had their public struggles with addiction, but I think that there are other people who should heed their advice.
This morning's Dirt Bag was surprisingly pleasant, for the most part there was no news of over publisized "celebrities". Who am I kidding, finding out that Tina Fey won an Emmy would have neutralized almost any other gossip bits.
@hortense: Thanks for the recommendation, it really is a great profile. Though it confirms for me yet again exactly why I loathe Jonathan Ross, that utter douchebag lowlife.
@gherkinfiend: I was so enamored with that profile, I sent it in, and I never send tips in. I thought it was absolutely great, and I totally lamented with her the abandonment of her music career, especially since she did the eighties new-wave pop revival before it was even a trend in modern pop. She has a good ear and eye for what's modern and hip, and I admire her willingness to be self-analytical. She seems like a super cool woman and I'd like to be her friend, if she wants to hang in Alabama.

It was also an Australian movie. Shocking, huh.
