my dog is obsessed with 2 things: human poop and death. if he finds either of the two (dead things or human turd) he will roll in it and dive head first like it's a pot full of treats.
Bailey, my Australian shepherd, can climb my kids ladder to the slide by herself. But she doesn't do possessed very good. Still, she is a great frisbee dog, which I find enjoyable.
I also loved the Louisiana dog that barked out the numbers on a card. I don't know if his owner was giving him a signal or what but it was really neat. I loved when Dave wrote "82" on a card and showed it to the puppy.
Aw, such cute puppehs. The only trick my cat knows is tipping over water glasses and waking me up by pulling my hair. Neither of these tricks is done on command.
dave is incorrect about the temperament of beagles.
they are considered to be one of the most kind and gentle breeds. this is why they are so often used in medical testing (boo! hiss!) and are recommended for families with small kids.
i'm not biased or anything. don't look at my profile pic.
@misshoax: Awww! Puppy! Thing is, though, that beagles DO have a mind of their own. Everyone I know who has one always says the beagle picked them, not the other way around. And they're stubborn, cute little buggers. <3
@musicpup rodstaff: Beagles are my favourite, but unless well-trained, they're horrible to walk. They want to take off after every smell and will pull on the leash untill you feel like you're choking them. Same reason you can't let them off-leash unless they're in an enclosed area - they will chase down whatever they smell.
@misshoax: My neighbor's beagle was the most hilarious and weird pup ever. His bark, BAAAYOOO, was so intense and piercing. Yet, he was just terrified of the elevator in our building, so would just shiver in it, until he got outside to the sidewalk.
He did, however, eat the entire ottoman in their apartment, as well as their taxes, one year. He kinda had a mind of his own and could not be trained.
@badmutha: No but beagles are evil shit eaters. And couch eaters. Entire contents of your weekly pill box eaters. And bags of flour eaters. And cell phone eaters. And drywall eaters.
It's fair to say I've known a few beagles in my life.
@misshoax: My neighbor has a beagle, who had a litter (thank goodness because that's where I got my ADORABLE beagle/terrier mix, Hershey) and my neighbor's beagle, my Hershey, and all Hershey's brothers and sisters are little monsters - but I love them and wouldn't have it any other way :: the great thing about Beagles is their energy, I'd say.
@misshoax: I could never own a beagle, because they are sooooo prone to run and run and RUN at the slightest scent. I can't blame them. They're so sweet, but they're hard to handle. Beagle rescues (at least in my area) are PACKED. It's sad.
My friend has a beagle with separation anxiety. He rummages through garbage, poops on the floor and chews whatever he can get his teeth on when he's left alone for more than an hour. He's not even very outwardly affectionate! But he's a silly dog, and I love him.
@misshoax: I met a woman at a dog show once that was on her 17th try to get the first leg of a Companion Dog title on one of her beagles. I fell in love with both of them. She was one of the coolest obedience competitors I've ever met.
She acknowledged that her quest might be hopeless but she loved spending the time with her girl.
