Also, Proposition 8 in Cali makes me sad I don't still live there so I could have voted that fucker down.
And I started crying again at 6AM when they replayed Obama's speech on MSNBC. It's a good thing work is slow right now.

But 800 votes is tough to make up, especially in Minnesota where they're probably very careful to do it right the first time.

It is an unbelievable feeling to have such great pride and hope while also feeling disappointed and upset. This is the perfect example that no matter how far America has come, we still have not come far enough. The fight is not over and I have great faith that President-Elect Barack Obama, although stated would not support gay marriage, would lead a country that provides equality to all and hopefully recognizes love between all people as a marriage.
Sorry to be a major ladyboner killer over here, just stuff on my mind!

I will always love my family, but tonight? There was fucking joy in our household.

That said, I hope Guantanamo Bay gets shut down, and SOON.

Prop hate is the equivalent of the Jim Crow laws where one set of people decides to suppress the rights of another, just to make themselves feel superior and revel in their ignorance. WTF? How can we not see this? How can you call yourself "christian" when the fundamental message of Christianity is to "love thy neighbor as thyself". Ridiculous!

Civil Rights took the federal government to act/force it upon the states. No reason it should be different now. Though we might have to wait til 2013.

When it was about to start, someone yelled "Listen! It's the president!" and everyone was silent except for cheering.
People were pulling over in their cars, parking anywhere, and jumping out to join us. Random strangers were hugging me and everyone was teary.
I'd never seen anything like it. I'm not from this country but I've lived here for my five post-education years and really do feel a bit like an honorary American.

Incidentally, I love the fact that in this great slideshow of international reactions to the Obama win, the guy in London is the one drunk on the floor - [www.huffingtonpost.com]

Do ya know whats really fun? Its our election on Saturday (in NZ)so I have to sit up and watch all the polls AGAIN. It won't be as exciting, but I'm not sure my poor body can cope with more elections and booze.
