I don't understand why anyone would kill innocents. My heart hurts for the world right now.

What good does announcing the subway threats do when there is NOTHING an average Manhattanite can do about it?
It's like the Tsnuami warnings they started out here in LA just after the Indonesian tragedy: I thought, OK, say there's a tsunami... what do I do then?... hop on the 10 FWY and drive east... me and the other 8 million Los Angelinos??!?
What are the contingency plans in the event of a subway attack? Are New Yorkers supposed to be on the lookout for suspicious activity? If so, what does that mean? What is elevated police presence going to do to thwart something like a suicide attack? Really, I wanna know the thought precess behind making these blanket and vague announcements.

Personally, I've already reported something suspicious (large suitcase abandoned near Grand Central, the bomb squad came, something similar happened when I lived on Capitol Hill).
Elevated police presence means armed NYPD, State Troopers, and National Guards on trains, bomb sniffing dogs, and bag checks. A suicide bomber could get around it of course, but it is totally noticeable even without an announcement.

I am so relieved that I want to cry.

When he gets the Wii he has asked for for two years and has been repeatedly told "No game systems allowed!", we'll see how he deals.
And for all in harm's way - peace be with you, friends.

My youngest sister fully believed in Santa until she was 11 or 12! Actually, she was in some kind of Santa-denial and refused to listen to anyone (even our parents!) who gently tried to tell her that he might not exist.
Meanwhile, my father pretty much ruined my childhood when, at age 8, I asked him if he believed in Santa and he said,
"No, I don't, because he's not real."
I cried SO. HARD.

I remember when I was a little kid every time Santa asked me what I wanted for christmas, or had to write a letter, I always asked for "world peace." :'(
I would like to ask for World Peace this year too.

I hope the girls don't find out for a bit but the older one will probably learn soon if she doesn't already know.
My thoughts are with everyone in India and I hope NY stays safe this weekend.

Man, this is terrible...

What I think has a far greater appeal, however, is the blog shirtordress.blogspot.com. Because the crisis of shirt or dress is very real, my friends. And I wish I had something that cool to share with the world, instead of just Dwayne's funky neckwear.

Apparently I was a better child actress than I thought.

Will you be having your baby at NYU? Would you like my personal review of the vending machines and waiting area?
