I once walked past Serena Williams as I was walking into a noodle restaurant in South Beach. She had an entourage of like thirty people with her, and she was the radiant, beautiful nucleus of it all.
Also, I covet her arms. And Venus's too. Hell, I covet their entire bodies.
@dancerevolution is back in the game: Seriously. It's kind of hilarious, and kind of disturbing to see all those photogs in a pile like that. Also, their pictures will be barely different from each others... so, exclusive?
I am leery of anointing athletes as role models, but I feel I must make an exception for the Williams sisters. I think they are amazing, and Venus was the first woman to earn the equal pay at Wimbledon.
@sarah.of.a.lesser.god (now with more ovumlord!): I agree. They are gracious yet fiercely competitive. And they show you can be strong and a badass athletically, while still feminine and into girlie things. I love that they get their nails done before matches and always have their hair done a different way. Not like that is a positive thing in and of itself, but it shows girls you can don't have to be a tomboy to kick ass.
I watched part of this with minisparks, and she noted that Serena's muscles are 'the awesomest things on earth.' She 'wants them because she knows she would be able to do anything' with them.
I say, 'rock on, minisparks' and thank you, Serena.
That's the one thing that jacked up about equal pay. You can't tell me that women's tennis popularity is the same as men's, and thus the pay should be reflective of this fact.
@That-Dude: Agreed, it's madness. I actually just wrote a whole blog post about women's equality in sports and touched on the equal pay issue. WNBA average salary = $50,000. NBA average salary = $5.3 million.

I don't have a lot else.

Also the commentators were OBSESSED that Anday Roddick lost 15 pounds. It was so weird to hear people obsessing over a man's weight.

(Still didn't keep Roger from taking him in 3 sets, either.)

No coffee=no insightful comment but I am just smiling looking at them.

AO sidenote: The Verdasco/Nadal match JUST finished - I don't want to ruin the result, but...bloody hell!

That is, Venus should have been payed MORE.
