Tyra's narcism has fully replaced any morsel of common sense that was once up there. Jay's repeated WTF faces to her throughout the show were genius. I was intrigued that while all the girls were painted, she left Sundae's face au natural. Im just not sure how appropriate it is to continuously paint white girl's faces black under the guise of a modeling competition. #antmblackface

(I'm a yellow/tan-colored black person. Technically, I would argue that most American blacks are mixed race folks, but I digress.) I said, no, I'm just black. And then they go, "Are you sure?!," acting like I let them down. Apparently being just "black" isn't "exotic" or "interesting."
Sigh.

What really interested me about the history of the plantations is how they used racial attitudes and developed them for capitalist gains. They started to import more workers from different areas once a population of any one or two races grew to a level in which they could create an effective union and make demands.
Really shows the importance of fighting against stereotypes and racial divides. The common worker benefits if we can see past race to create better working environments by uniting. #antmblackface

In the Hawaiian language, hapa is defined as: portion, fragment, part, fraction, installment; to be partial, less. It is a loan from the English word half. However, in Hawaiian Pidgin (the creole spoken by many Hawai'i residents), hapa has an extended meaning of "half-caste" or "of mixed descent". Mary Pukui & Samuel Ebert's Hawaiian Dictionary define hapa as: "of mixed blood, person of mixed blood as in hapa hawai'i, part Hawaiian." [See: Pukui, Mary Kawena, and Samuel H. Ebert, Hawaiian Dictionary, Revised and enlarged edition, University of Hawaii Press, Honolulu HI, 1986] The word hapa has moved into mainland English.
Used without qualification, hapa is often taken to mean "part White", and is short hand for hapa haole. The term can be used in conjunction with other Hawaiian racial and ethnic descriptors to specify a particular racial or ethnic mixture.
I don't see how that doesn't apply to Obama. Wikipedia doesn't say it's derogatory, and I've never heard the term before, but it seems like it's just a Hawaiian term for biracial. #antmblackface

But I figure with the way most non-English words are generally, loosely incorporated into the language, it wouldn't be unusual to see the definition extended to any biracial person. #antmblackface
