Israel announced leaving Gaza in 2004, and pulled out officially in 2005.
And now Lebanon is attacking Israel from the north. How come no one is bothering to admonish them?

I do not, for the life of me, understand how my fellow Israelis (or, so many of them) can believe that reducing their neighbors to a quivering, bleeding mass of angry, mourning humanity is in any way good for Israel. Nor can I comprehend how the US Senate in its entirety can possibly think this is good for Israel or (frankly) America.
I've posted these links before (to two incredible bi-national organizations working toward peace), but I'll do it again because it bears repeating: Combatants for Peace (Israeli and Palestinian former combatants) [www.combatantsforpeace.org] and The Bereaved Families Forum (Palestinians and Israelis who have lost loved ones to the violence) [www.theparentscircle.org]

When Israel left Gaza in 2005, it retained control of the borders and airspace, thus remaining in the position of occupying authority, by any international legal measure. It refused to negotiate with the Abbas/Fatah government, thus handing a victory to Hamas and failing to get the security measures it needed.
Rashid Khalidi's piece was not opinion, it was facts that people don't want to acknowledge.

Good link. I agree. Jezebel, you should be printing more news of Gaza.
Here's some from an unexpected source, CNN:
"Her remarks came a day after the International Committee of the Red Cross issued a blunt press release saying ambulances obtained access to several houses in Zeitoun "affected by Israel shelling," days after they asked to go into the neighborhood.
The release slammed Israel -- an uncharacteristic move for the agency, which is known for its neutrality and quiet, behind-the-scenes activities.
According to the release, the ICRC had wanted "safe passage for ambulances" to the neighborhood since Saturday, but didn't receive IDF permission until Wednesday.
The ICRC and the Palestine Red Crescent Society "found four small children next to their dead mothers in one of the houses. They were too weak to stand up on their own. One man was also found alive, too weak to stand up. In all, there were 12 corpses lying on mattresses," the ICRC said."

Let's talk about real stimulus. Helping state and local governments who can't deficit spend and have increased social service needs. Those social service dollars go right into the economy by creating jobs and freeing up money for those at the lowest incomes. It prevents state and local governments from laying off of employees and therefore increasing unemployment. Let's create jobs, good jobs, that don't result in people needing social services to get by.

Well, look. A lot of us just don't really care what happens in New York. I mean, yes, it's important who you guys pick as a senator, but it's your representative, not mine. So, you know.

Sarah Palin: unknown Governor of pretty much wilderness state
Caroline Kennedy: heir to political dynasty.
Of course one is going to be treated differently than the other! Mind you, if Caroline started spouting the same tired rants that Sarah Palin did, you could bet there would be a shit-storm and Uncle Ted would be hitting the sauce hard.
Either way, they are both women, they are both the subject of criticism, criticism that is warranted (lack of experience is the common thread) for the most part, and yes, there's no doubt some sexism involved.

Palin also had some very vocal supporters as Kennedy does, it's much of a muchness to me.

caroline's being born a kennedy has a lot to do with the pass she's getting, but palin's being born ridiculous had everything to do with the pass she didnt get.

first she talked about hils being too whiny about sexism, then began using the term at her convenience, and said she'd call hils about the sexism they experienced together, blamed katie and fey for correctly displaying her incompetence and "contributing" to the sexism. she's called herself a feminist, then taken it back. what's with her? she needs to woman up and learn how to take legitimate criticism!
