(Er, I'm a history teacher, and the labels in my closet are mostly from Target, so I don't know what I'm talking about. But I've gotten this impression somewhere along the line. The fashionable Jezzies can set me straight.)

Maybe she'd want to do it as a challenge. Like to be known as The One Who Saved American Vogue. Oui she can!

I would love a shake-up. If even half of this stuff happened, I'd be delighted.
My subscription to Vogue runs through Jan. '10, so I'm hoping something has changed by then.
I would eat a Michelle Obama cover up like a box of snickerdoodles, though. No matter who's editor.

I would love to see a magazine that showcased huge designers alongside street style. To me, that would be approaching fashion as an art form. I don't mean just photographing regular people on the street like blogs do, but I mean having stylists that mix off the rack with couture or shooting stylish artists and musicians really creatively in their element instead of having them styled by the same stylists who do everything and featuring affordable and unaffordable things in the pages. Fashion is about fantasy to a degree, so it doesn't bother me that there are things in the pages only rich people can afford. But I think there's a difference between caring about fashion and caring about labels. I love fashion. But I've gone in boutiques and turned on my heels and left, not because it was depressing that I couldn't buy anything, but because there was nothing inspiring there that made me want to go home and pin scarves up different ways to replicate anything I saw on the mannequins. Likewise, I can't imagine not wearing something super cool just because it wasn't designer, no matter how rich I was. To me, loving clothes means if I see something cool and it's 50 cents in an effin bin, I'm going to dig it out, dry clean it, and put a patch over the hole because it is FLY. I want to see a magazine that takes that approach to fashion. The closest I've seen to anything like that besides a music mag was the old Nylon.

Dear Jesus, I love Andre J. Who, does not- as far as I know- define himself as a drag queen. Drag queens perform in duh, drag. Andre wears lady clothes matched with man hair in public all the time.
NOT the same thing.

Also - I do not believe that Anna is 60. I do not believe you.

And as freakily prescient as The Devil Wears Prada might be, does that mean we can expect Anna to shuttle Carine off to be, I don't know, Alexander Wang's new director of global operations?
