    Ain't nothin' gonna change until something is done about China's management of its oil interests in Darfur, which is what this stems from. You hear gentle suggestions directed toward China to put a stop to it, but nobody ever calls them out directly. There was a pretty interesting bit about it on VBS.

    In a related note of what the U.N. can (or rather, cannot) do...they published a piece in the NY Times on peacekeeping forces terrorizing the same civilians they were meant to protect in the Congo.

    I am one of those churlish types who feels annoyed every time a celebrity lectures me on world peace/prosperity/environmentalism. Particularly one who rents out third world countries to give birth in and collects cute children of the world like dolls.

    @PilgrimSoul: Still not half as bad as Sean Penn palling around with Hugo Chavez, then coming home and extolling the virtues of nationalization and Chavez's other policies. Or anything that has come out of Bono's mouth in the better part of 2 decades.

    @PilgrimSoul: I don't know. Her adoptions have been a heck of a lot less problematic than Madonna's (someone whose motives I seriously question). Say what you will about her, but she has never struck me as anything less than sincere in her efforts. Misguided at times, maybe, but aren't we all? I'm as uncomfortable as the next person with the notion of the Angelina-as-White-Saviour persona, but if you look into the actual projects that she has funded (for example, the projects of the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation in Cambodia), she has supported a lot of really good work.

    Cameron looks no different at all. I have a question, though - am I the only one who DOES NOT GET why having filler or implants put in your cheeks makes a person look younger? I think it actually aged Madonna 10 years overnight. Maybe she just had a bad practitioner, and it works so well on others I just haven't noticed it?

    When I get unrecognizable in old age I'm planning on having my heirs discover my identity in the form of painting painted in the prime of my youth with clues hidden throughout resulting in an around the world adventure where the journey is the reward. They are so gonna hate me.
