Women Rule At The Time 100 Party

Last night in New York, Time magazine hosted a reception honoring its self-selected 100 Most Influential people of the year and, I have to say, the women in attendance were a cool bunch: Arianna Huffington, Martha Stewart, Angelica Huston, Wendy Kopp, Tina Fey, Madeeha Hasan Odhaib, Elizabeth Gilbert, and others. And since today's my last day as a full-time Jezebel, I've decided to focus less on the clothes and more on what they've accomplished. On the whole, these are women sans stylists: They're all Good in my book! (Though Wendi Deng's dress is a little unforgivable.)

The Good:
Amy Poehler: Actress, comedienne, Christian Siriano copycat.
I can only hope that Angelica Huston was invited for her amazing turn in The Darjeeling Limited as a mother/Buddhist nun who doesn't know what to talk about when we talk about love.
Ann Moore, left, is the CEO of Time, Inc. Indra Nooyi, right, is the CEO of Pepsi Co. Donatella Versace would be happy, surely, to see women in power wearing dresses.
Arianna Huffington: She writes books, she runs blogs, she wears ballgowns.
Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love, which was apparently a little smug, highly readable and very "influential." (I hate that word.)
Georgina Chapman designs for Marchesa and married Harvey Weinstein. I'm not sure if these things, independently or together, make her a person of merit. But what do I know?
Kristen Wiig of SNL: Further proof that women are funny.
Madeeha Hasan Odhaib is the "Mother Theresa of Baghdad." I wonder if George Bush, or even fellow attendee John McCain, even care.
I love Martha Stewart: She runs an empire and still manages to can her own preserves. Also, she does it in heels.
Mary Lou Jepsen founded Pixel Qi and was also the founding Chief Technology Officer of One Laptop Per Child, which strives to deliver mesh-networked laptops to children in developing countries.
Nancy Brinker, who founded Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is a breast cancer survivor and mother, and was also appointed to the position of Chief of Protocol by President Bush.
Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng: The dark overlord and his whipsmart wife.
Suzanne Vega: She sings.
Sure Baby Mama is supposed to be the anti-Knocked Up or whatever, but more importantly, Tina Fey has brought Liz Lemon and Tracey Jordan into our lives.
Did you participate in Teach for America? Or have eighty gajilliion friends who did? Thank Wendy Kopp, who founded the program, for the experience.
Ziyi Zhang: She acts. Also I am in awe of her bone structure.

Stars Put Best Foot Forward At Costume Designers Guild Awards

Yesterday film and television actors alike turned out at the Costume Designers Guild 10th Annual Awards in Beverly Hills to pay homage to the people who sew their pockets shut: costume designers. And on the whole, the female stars in attendance looked good! While Gabrielle Anwar — don't pretend you don't remember Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken! — went for a look more heavy on the costume than the fine design, Jane Kaczmarek, January Jones, and Law and Order's very pregnant Elisabeth Rohm all looked smart and sleek. (J.Lo could really take a page from Rohm's book. Although that point is probably moot, if the gossip columns are to be believed.) And then there were the "What were they thinking?" women: Angelica Huston, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kristen Chenowith. The full Good, Bad, and Ugly, after the jump.

The Good:
Elisabeth Rohm looks so pretty while pregnant! Also seems comfy in her equally pretty dress.
Jane Kaczmarek keeps it classy in a purple column.
I love January Jones' minimalist and playful dress. This is the exact right way to wear white.
Simon Cowell's main squeeze/Extra correspondent Terri Seymour kept it classy.

The Bad:
Angelica Huston: You are one of the greatest actresses of our time. Not a Vegas showgirl.
Did no one alert Christina Hendricks that her shapeless blob of a dress was the same shade as her skin?
This pattern and cut fails to flatter Ginnifer Goodwin.
If this were Project Runway, Nina Garcia would say that thought she liked the concept of Natasha Henstridge's dress, the execution was poor and the end-result cheap-looking. And I would agree with her.

The Ugly:
Remember that "disco hair-cutting smock" that Ricky made on the Project Runway wrestling challenge? How did Kristen Chenoweth get her hands on it?

At Sundance, Stars Dress Puffily, Poorly

The stars have been frolicking in the snow at the Sundance Film Festival all week, pretending to care about independent cinema and "art" and all those sorts of things. What they need to be focused on, though, is staying warm and wearing something — anything — other than Uggs and puffy jackets. Because frankly, with all their disposable income, surely they can think of better-looking and more creative way of keeping their tootsies warm?. Adrien Grenier (left) earns our marginal admiration for at least pretending to care about what the city is actually known for — its skiing — instead of just frolicking at the Fred Segal suite and collecting shopping bags. After the jump, the good, the bad, and the ugly of Sundance celeb fashion.

The Good:
Um, according to the picture caption, this is Broadway diva/Private Practice star Audra McDonald. (We think it's actually Sanaa Lathan. But, you know, all black women look the same!) Anyway, Sanaa looks hot in her minidress, boots, and practical but still chic mid-length puffy coat.
Against my better judgment, I love AnnaSophia Robb's (faux, I hope!) fur floppy hat, puffy coat, and layers of sweaters. She looks angelic and cozy.
Though Virginia Madsen's scarf sorta looks like a towel, snaps to her for going with such fresh and kicky colors. Also, someone has clearly been watching What Not To Wear and learning about how layering can keep you from looking like you're cutting yourself in equal parts across the middle!

The Bad:
There is so much good in Angelica Huston's outfit. The Christmas color palette is not one of those things.
Janice Combs: Too much fringe, not enough warmth!
There's a reason Tom Arnold is no longer a star. We just never knew that his sartorial choices might be it.
Mischa Barton's crime? Looking way too much like Lohan.

The Ugly:
Beard + Uncle Jesse = UGH
