    I think by "feral," The Sun meant to say "horrifically abused."


    I'm not sure why we (humans) are so in love with the notion of children raised by animals, but this child was not raised by animals -- she was criminally abused by people.

    Stories about feral children break my heart, especially ones like this where there were adults who could have not done this to them, like that little girl in FL who's mother kept her in a closet. How all the people involved in that case refrained from slapping that mother I will never know.

    My bff was a bridesmaid* at the wedding of a girl who left the reception with her ex-boyfriend.


    *She was a bridesmaid because the bride asked her coworker, a friend of my bff, if she had any friends who would be bridesmaids for her because she didn't have enough friends to match her husband's groomsmen. He had three.

    @DangerMouse: I think that order of nuns was featured in Rumer Godden's book, Black Narcissus (there's a movie, too). They set up a mission in the Himalayas, and were "seduced" by their surroundings. That's all I've got. Not too helpful.

    How was that 7 year old able to reach the pedals? Awesome story, but I'm 5'0 and I have to move the seat up a lot to reach the pedals, so I'm wondering how the girl was able to steer the car onto the road, figure out the pedals, and be able to even reach everything and see above the wheel.

    Well, taking the student to Disneyland makes everything better. Because at Disneyland, everyone is a child.


    /totally bitter very very very angry sarcasm.


    Besides the fact that this is a case of statutory rape - Teacher/student sexual relationships are ENTIRELY INAPPROPRIATE. It wouldn't matter if the student were of age. The power dynamic in such a relationship is unbalanced, and can too easily lead to manipulation and abuse.


    While I do know some couples that met when one taught the other, the only time such a relationship is appropriate and responsible is after one is no longer the student and both are equal. Period.
