@littlemissvan: Okay, I'll give you a play by play. Harper is opening his eyes super wide and talking really slowly in an attempt to be sincere, but is coming off as really condescending. He said what a great job he's going to do in these difficult economic times, and then said how shitty the coalition is.

Peter Mansbridge says it was interesting, but there was nothing new in the broadcast. Oh and he just said that it's a big deal in Quebec that Harper refuses to use the word separatist in his French speeches, although he does in English.

@NeonOlive: i have personal experience too, and if someone gave me coke and lsd, i could fight for days on end with no food or sleep, no doubt. and india doesnt really have a reason to lie about finding syringes on the terrorists bodies and finding drugs in their systems after the autopsies, not as much of a reason as the US would, at least.

@anonymiss: I understand people's reactions and experiences can differ widely, but I haven't seen any good sources reporting this (the site linked to above suggests that the use of drugs has not been confirmed). I'd be interested in seeing some, though, if you have found any.

I can imagine an escalation/combination of the war on terror & the war on drugs. And that's a scary thought.

@NeonOlive: i followed the links through to Boing Boing, then from there to some UK news sources that quoted the stuff about the syringes and autopsies. i also dont think this could add any more fuel to the war on drugs than has already existed regarding heroin-->afghanistan-->the taliban/al qaeda

@anonymiss: hey thanks, I just found those. I'm less skeptical about coke than I am about the lsd. It will be interesting to see what other reports come out on this topic.

Re: the war on drugs & the war on terror

It's messy and I don't want to jack the thread more than I have. But opiates are a different problem/recreational experience than coke and/or lsd, so it's a little weird and dystopian to imagine a world where they are all linked to terrorism.
