Ok all I can think of is that creepy character that Vincent D'offreno played in that creepy JLo movie in which Vince Vaughn played a serious cop - The Cell. The bad guy like suspension, and it was hella-creepy.

My pal Surgeon Scofflaw once did a performance during Gurlesque Burlesque (in Chicago) in which she wore a line of flesh hooks in her arms that had chains hanging from them with small fishbowls attached with prayer rocks inside of them. She held out her arms and sang a prayer over and over again. It was one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen -- HOWEVER, about 10 people in the audience fainted. It was the strangest thing to see people just dropping to the floor in the crowded room.

@ValSilph: I believe...yes, I believe those hooks are piercing her skin. Jez, I wish some people would be this enthusiastic about issues like poverty, genocide, malnutrition, bride burning, etc. You know, the things that affect humans.

@Cole23: It's not like we have a limited amount of compassion. Everyone should work towards helping whatever issue or cause resonates with them. I care a lot about public education and animal rights. If you're so vocal about poverty, genocide, malnutrition, do something yourself. Don't demand that activists do it in your stead.

@Ailanthus-altissima: I think it's interesting that you automatically assume that issues such affecting HUMANS are more significant than those which affect ANIMALS. I've heard my friends who are animal activists take the exact opposite stand as yours - why spend time advocating for humans that have the power to advocate for themselves? It is more important to help those who truly cannot defend themselves - namely animals.
