@mynameisdita: Coldplay is on tour, I saw them the other night.

She doesn't tour with them and they don't do red carpets. So the paps have to just try to catch them when they're in London or New York. The last photo I saw of them together was at Jay-Z and Beyonce's wedding. He seems like a cool (if goofy) guy.

@stacyinbean: Oh yes, British cuisine puts many things between two slices of bread and adds sauce of your choice.

See the sausage sandwich (link sausages, not hotdogs), the fish finger sandwich, the fried egg sandwich and the french fry sandwich, more fondly known as the chip buttie...

All of these delights are best eaten when hungover since you don't care about cholesterol at that point and washed down with a mug of strong hot tea.

@OurLass: Let me ask you, British Lass -- could I survive in the U.K. as a vegetarian? Because I'm totally down with the whole bread-and-butter thing...but not so much the bacon, sausages, etc.

God, I would eat potatoes, bread, and butter all day long. I would die soon, but I would die happy.

@Kivrin: Britain is pretty vegetarian friendly, I think. There's almost always a vegetarian option in a pub, cafe or restaurant. Mind you, it's quite often goat cheese...

@gherkinfiend: You just reminded me of the fish finger sandwiches at Squat and Gobble. Served with rocket and tartar sauce in ciabatta... Oh and their beef steak sandwiches, with dijon mustard....

It kinda bugs me reading about all the celebrities and what they did on election night. Obama's victory was one for the grassroots, one for the masses - you know, people power and all that - and it annoys me to see celebrities overshadowing that.
Then again, I'm not American and I don't live in the US, so it's probably not my place to say any of that...

@heykoukla: If it makes you feel better, I'm a nobody from the US, and I watched the returns, ate veggie burgers while staring at my tv almost puking from nervousness, cried, phoned my sister in CA, cried some more, shook my fist at the people booing Obama in AZ, tried to go to sleep, was too excited, got up and read news websites until 2am EST. While crying.

@Mkp-hearts-nyc: Weirdly, "coloured" is used pretty commonly in the UK. My jaw dropped the first time I heard it, but it's apparently not offensive. I understand it to be like "person of color."

What I can't accept? Biracial = "Half-Caste"

@tailfeather: Interestingly my (British) mum asked me last night what the correct term for "half-caste" was - we were talking about Obama. It is a bit of a linguistic mine field for the older generation, I think.
