    I sort of can't believe I am defending the disgusting teabagging birthers, but I'm not sure how legitimate it is to criticize them for being organized by industry lobbyists. How different is that from unions or left wing lobbying groups helping organize protests? I suppose it is different because those groups represent PEOPLE and the industry lobbyists represent INSURANCE COMPANIES which are the opposite of people, but, I mean, protests have to be organized by someone. Am I missing something?

    @J.D.Regent: I think the problem is, that these town hall protests are not so much "protests" as attempts to disrupt actual discussion of the issue, and attempts to keep liberal voices from being heard. Not everyone in these meetings is against health care reform, but they cannot ask their questions or get the facts if they are being shouted down by people who are only there to make noise and disrupt the proceedings.

    @J.D.Regent: These are protests organized by companies to preserve their indecent profits at the expense of peoples' health. They promise something, then change the rules when it looks like they might have to deliver. The insurence industry in this country is in need of serious regulation and oversight. These so-called protests are not by people seeking redress of grievances; they are exactly the opposite. They are the powerful attempting to hide their power and hold on to it.
    RAchel Maddow's been doing amazing work on these very corporate mobs, including going all the way back to the so-called 'spontaneous' mobs that 'erupted' when Al Gore challenged W over the election recounts. Some of those protesters have been identified: as Republican toadies, staffers of Republican legislators, Republican lobbyists, etc., etc.,

    John Bolton is the worst diplomat ever. He's like an asshole cocktail of Oscar the Grouch, Yosemite Sam, and one of those Yuppie frat boys from the Revenge of the Nerds Movies.
    I assume he only gets interviewed these days for the same reason Orly Taitz is frequently given air time.
