No, strike that. I actually kind of enjoy fashion, in my entirely dilettante way, most of the time. I guess it's (what I know of) the fashion industry that I hate.
@Mishegoss: Agreed! It is not very attractive on many people. On my skin tone it makes me look like a corpse. My darker complexioned friend looks naked. Pass for the two of us.
@LawFairy: See it always annoys me that clothes are designed under the "if you are tall you must be bigger all around" motto.
Old Navy is the worst for this. If the sleeves or torso on something doesn't fit me the next size up will be longer, but it will also be BIGGER around. Not what I'm looking for .
Not that this helps much, but Gap sizes usually run larger. I wear 2 sizes smaller there than any other store.
Also, their clothes are sometimes unflattering on anyone with curves. I'm quite small, but I have an hourglass shape and a lot of their clothes look awkward on me.
@Penny: I covet that dress and I am pissed about the sizing as I am fairly true to size at the Gap. IIRC the previous collaborations have all been white shirts, which are easier to size. This is first time they've done pants and dresses. They are also using chino fabric for the whole line, which is not expensive.
Oh, I guess anything above a twelve IS considered plus size. In your FACE previous commenters who tried to tell me that the only sizes that were plus sized were ones that you couldn't find in everyday stores. *
*Yes I hold a grudge.
** Just kidding previous commenters, I still love you all.
@greengrey (raidersofthelostSTAR): For what it is worth, I think it was traditionally as Viva says, anything above a 12. American stores (some) started carrying 14's and 16's. In Europe and Latin America, accounting for conversions of sizes, it is usually anything above a 12- they have not really added any sizes, though in big department stores you will have lines that are for those sizes. I think that this is probably why designers don't think of adding sizes, like 14-16 (even if we do have in some American stores) as a give-in, particularly European designers; to them it is a separate market, as would be tall or petites. Not that this is not discriminatory, this is just my hunch as to their logic. I remember shopping with my mom when I was young and it was still this way- nothing over a 12.
hmmm maybe if all sized people could boycott one of these clothing places, in solidarity with those who cannot buy their sizes at all, they might be motivated to de-segregate their sizing.

@parafilm: Yeah I like to pretend I'm a much smaller size by buying pants there. But then they stretch really badly and I have to do laundry more and the problems just compound. Sigh. Better just to wear my real size at a different store, I guess.
@sequined: I just flat out can't shop there. I go occasionally with my shopping partner in crime, who is about an 8, and she buys things that are sized XS. Vanity sizing FTL.
@sequined: I have worn three different sizes in Gap clothes without the size of my body actually changing... it all depends on the cut. It's bloody ridiculous.

I am guessing they did a smaller size run because of costs, maybe choosing to distribute to all stores versus a deeper size run in select stores?
I would be curious to see how they handled sizing with the other designer collaborations, I've never gotten anything from those collections.

On the other hand, normal Gap clothes are sized so wonky I can go down two pants sizes there. So maybe everyone up to a size 14 can shop this line!
(Not that that actually makes it better. I'm just saying.)
