    That's beautiful! I once made a dress entirely out of toddlers' halter tops, but it didn't look anything like this.

    Pffft. That's nothing. When I was 7 I made an Ariel costume out of printer paper--


    Basically this included me wrapping coloring long swathes of paper green and wrapping it around my legs (back when computer paper was all connected and you tore around the perforated edges, kiddies) and cutting out seashell shapes, coloring them purple and taping them over my nipples. I could only hop and my "shells" often fell off, but damnit I was the best Ariel EVER.

    The construction's amazing -- she's obviously very talented. But the dress does nothing for her. The waist is too low and the skirt is too short, for starters. She's an attractive young woman -- I think her hair and face are darling -- but the rest is, well, an impressive project.


    Design school is the time to experiment, so she should have lots of fun.

    This reminds me of a shirt a friend of mine made in college by ripping up an old book and gluing it in a basketweave pattern. That was for an art project though, so it wasn't practical. I'm so impressed by this because it's beautiful and wearable. I wouldn't have known it was made of coffee filters if that wasn't mentioned. It takes so much skill to make something that's the main point seem secondary.
